visited gruyeres last year and the statue its dark brown on my opinion (may be black but with the light it seems a sort of dark brown color). Coolprops statue on my opinion nailed this. The sculpt is exactely the same, so it is way accurated

Mamegyroai its a really cool statue, best detailed with an incredible paintjob...but for me Alien or this statue is not as detailed as this. For me Alien is black/grey colour. In Gruyeres and in the movie as well. May be next year with the new upcomming and remastered new version of the original movie I will appreciate more colours on it but, by now and for me, it is black/grey colour


Under the right lighting he’d look monochromatic anyway.

Because I was also a Giger fan, black and grey / even silver or chrom like the teeth. was the color for me...even just black would’ve sufficed.
But when I watched the documentaries and looked very carefully at the suit In old photographs it was clearly browns and blacks he used on a translucent latex suit, so the result is more organic than mechanical.

Then I learned to appreciate the textures he created with those colors to bring the sculpt to life.. in fact he created it wanting to have the skin with a peeling, molting texture which is why the cinemaquette has that texture. I guess he liked the way the materials are sort of disintegrating because it looked like the molting process.

Of course Demorathis, I know what you mean but in that case, replicating the suit from Gruyeres and on my opinion, the color should be the way it is in the coolprops maquette.

Mamegyorai statue looks awesome! But also on my opinion, if it should be screen accurated, because it is also the suit from the movie, I would prefer it more grey than brown...more “chase smith” style if you want.

Of course, all of this is my personal taste! I find Mamegyorai statue awesome!! Sculpt and paintjob, it’s just that for me, Alien is something very personal, more from me than from Giger if you want. Figures should makes me remember the fear I felt the first time when I watched the film or the special moment when I visited gruyeres and I said:- hei!! It’s THE ALIEN!!

I feel that with the coolprops bust and their maquette. With the bust I see the monster and with the maquette, the suit in Gruyeres.

Mamegyroai’s Alien is very well done but because of the paintjob (that is very well done too, the best one we have ever seen), it is not the Alien I remember. I’m sure that may be the Alien should look like this but I didn’t remember it brown. (i think it happens happens the same wit the warrior...blue or brown?)

Very difficult to explain! But one thing is sure, Mamegyorai statue or coolprops’s one are both awesome and their future owners should be very proud of them! Glad to have different versions to choose which one I like the most

Really wanted to pull the trigger on this one, but I couldnt get passed the cost. Looks beautiful. Im sure whoever gets it will be happy with it.

The cost is the reason I’m holding off as well... for now. There’s just a lot of players in the game with high quality Alien pieces right around the corner. I don’t want to be trigger happy and jump on the first we’ve seen.

I'd still like to get this, it's just a bad time as I've laid down an awful lot of money on other life things this month (with another £10k to come in the following months) If this turns out great in hand, I MIGHT try to flex it for future. Although I do think I'd prefer the Mameygorai if I can stretch to it.

I'm kinda in the same boat. The Mameygorai looks better IMO, and while I appreciate the pose, I like this display better.

What’s interesting is that the CoolProps piece is trying to imitate the suit, as it displayed in the replica museum case, however it’s sculpted as the creature (no seems, suit elements etc).

I also prefer the Mamegyorai one to this. The Mamegyorai is the perfect replica of what we saw on screen.

based in their pics, i can't see the changes in the paint. I heard they were supposed to put some 'highlights'. Do you see that guys ?

Not at all, I see it “very black”. But I like it so much can’t wait to receive it (im still waiting for the bust).

Prime 1 are making two versions it turns out. One based on a pose similar to the Koto figure. And a museum pose version to compete with this. Something tells me that Prime 1 and Coolprops are no longer best friends...

I love it! Some good healthy competition!!
Personally, Prime 1 is going to get my money when they start going up for preorder. They will no doubt be the absolute best pieces from the Alien franchise we’ve ever seen! I can’t wait to get both versions of the Big Chap!!!
