i've wanted to see what this guy has to say so i've contacted him via e-mail. he will admit that he was a recaster. according to another forum member who knew him, sideshow and bowen distributors have already warned and threat him for legal action so he stopped doing it. according to him, colossus and surfer are his own creation. after that wake up call, he started creating his own statues to sell and he has more to offer.

now, to get the mods to take out the ban on him, he is willing to sell colossus for $20 to 30 other forum members but only is the mod bring him back and clear his name.

now mods think that this work is a factory work and more than one person is involved. according to nbr3, one of the mod at statue forum, giving away cheap statues doesnt mean he stopped recasting. until they can prove he stopped recasting, the ban stay. whatcha guys think?

I guess the one picture wasn't enough...

But judging from the pictures it looks like this was/is a major operation. No one just shuts down their livelyhood because somebody on an internet message board says to.

from the info i've gathered so far, those pictures are from a year or two ago and he claims that those are from before he got the warning from sideshow and bowen distributors

well its pretty obvious that there are alot of people involved in this operation. other people probably depends their livelihood on hobbymaster's project. but maybe he did stop recasting and that's why he is moving on to his originals or may be not. it's really hard to tell.

my question is, if he really is serious to prove that he doesnt do recast anymore, what does he have to do to prove it?

i guess only time will tell.

can someone explain how me gets these duplicated? He makes a mold of an existing "real" product, then from that mold, creates a bunch of copies???

I've been looking at the Ebay auctions for ironman, some were in Phillipines and some Hond Kong or Japan. No pictures of the product box either. I assume recasts?

im not sure about the process of recasting but if the seller is overseas, no box, and cant provide edition number, then its most likely a recast :monkey2

Well he came though for those that bought a Colossus from him before we knew about the recasting issues.

Unfortunately a couple guys received broken pieces but mine arrived safe but with a couple of other issues.

Natrix,

Did it come painted? or you had to have it painted? Also, was it in one piece or in parts?

thnx

No, it came assembled and painted. I was the lucky one that received the unbroken statue. It will eventually need to be sent to someone to repaint the Alclad silver parts. It also doesn't fit on the base properly.

I am working on a mini review and more pictures.

That looks great!

Congrats...recast or not, nice addition.

Well, this isn't a recast but the guy who did it was a known recaster and is allegedly now entirely out of recasting and into original sculpts.

Sculpt is very nice and while it looks good in the pictures there are several spots on the Alclad paint that are bad and will need to be repainted. The feet don't fit on the base properly. I think I can fix that be drilling a new hole for the foot peg closer to where the peg is on the foot. Some of the armor lines must have too much paint in them and have smoothed over mainly on the left thigh.

Some pictures of the problems.

Base fitting.
