There's a difference in the tailoring between Heer and SS panzer wraps, as displayed in the difference between DID's camouflage SS and black Heer wraps.

Old photos indicate that 3. SS Panzerdivision "Totenkopf" did have the jaws on their skulls.


If you were asking about the piping on the cap, the Waffen-SS, by regulation, had white piping apart from a six month period in 1940 when Himmler authorised the wear of coloured Waffenfarbe. Coloured Waffenfarbe, however, continued to be worn throughout the war contrary to regulations that were seldom enforced particularly during front line service.

Wow, that is a wealth of information. Thank you. I will keep this in mind and will swap out some of the kit to align with the SS uniform. You just saved me a lot of hour’s of research

One other thing with the Jager set, though it isn't that noticeable on display unless you're looking for it, is that the trousers are Waffen-SS pattern.

They're therefore perfect for a 'Totenkopf' representation.

With reference to the point raised on DID's Facebook about the SS trousers not matching the Heer panzer wrap:

I find Facepool much more approachable with what collectors want to see and our ideas, they'll respond and converse with you.
DID have the same old copy and paste reply to everyone with no real back and forth and not very friendly very vague on alot of things!
Personal opinion, I'd have preferred a second headsculpt for Jager, a bearded version for the Heer Uniform, like what Facepool did on their MG42 at Ardennes figure recently.

That’s good to know. You would think that with just a little more research and by taking note of the comments on the various forums they would get the best possible results with their figures.

Outwardly a strange choice for DID to latch onto, but all things Russian seem to be popular in China.

Received my second Jager.

I intended to remove the pips from the shoulder boards on this one. One was already missing anyway, and nowhere to be found. However, when I pried off the remaining pip it left gold paint residue on the shoulder board.

So I canned that idea and glued the pip back on, and used one of the spares to make him a Hauptmann again.

It was strange because the area of the missing pip had no gold residue, but just the slightest hint of a glue mark.


This might've been a figure from pre-Chinese New Year rushed production, because the cuff title on the camo wrap was upside down. That's no problem though, because they're not stitched or glued in place.


I took the Iron Cross off to use on the Hitlerjugend Standartenführer. Didn't expect it to actually fix with a pin and hook like the real thing:

It's so tiny it's hard to photograph. (While I do have quite a bit of authentic militaria, the full size one there is a replica).

Apart from the missing pip, and the non-problematical upside down cuff title, I also had the top elasticated button loop break. The gap in the belt buckle on this figure was also so tight that the belt barely went through. One of the plastic pins actually broke the surface of the leather, which I've pushed down so it doesn't show.

Luckily the top button wasn't essential to keeping the wrap closed.

Out of the box he looked as awkward as the first one on the shorty body. The trousers are too long and much better suited to the regular Slim, which all my Panzer officers are on. The one in the Italian camo trousers looks shorter due to the boots. I can't remember whether I put feet inside them or not.

Love the figure, however the belt is shedding tiny pieces on the back and it's destroying Jagers Heer uniform. I got a cigarette lighter and just singed it along. Didn't really help much.
Also, the belt is quite difficult to fasten. The buckle has very little room to slide the belt end past the teeth. I haven't bothered putting on belt because of this afraid to force it past.
Great figure Overall and a very good quality and value for money. I'm changing headsculpt on him and changing him to SS this is just put together for applying insignia and seeing how he looks more or less complete. The body is the new short version which is actually perfect for Panzer tank crew.

I had that with both figures. Every time I moved the belt bits of leather got onto the uniform. I used a paint brush to get them off his clothes.

Also, the belt is quite difficult to fasten. The buckle has very little room to slide the belt end past the teeth. I haven't bothered putting on belt because of this afraid to force it past.

I had that problem today with the second figure, as in my post it was so tight one of the plastic pins broke the surface of the leather.

It was a lot easier with the first figure.

This belt is annoying me. I've given up trying since reading your buckle teeth broke. Why did they use plastic for the buckle. Stupid move. They had a nice belt for HJM figure with a metal buckle. Also can't get the belt to stop shedding bits which ruins the uniform. So I've stopped trying to fasten it onto him. I might look into buying another belt

The teeth didn't break. One of them just broke the surface of the leather, exposing the lighter colour underneath. I pushed the piece down so it doesn't show.

The first figure didn't present this problem.

Also can't get the belt to stop shedding bits which ruins the uniform. So ove syoped trying to fasten it onto him. I might look into buying another belt

I only got the shedding when putting the belt on. Once on there was no more trouble.

It's genuine leather, which is why the back is rough and bits flake off it.

Pleather, or a bonded leather mix, would've been better because they have an artificial backing.

The belt is real leather. Not pleather. It's the back part is like suede but shedding bits

Ah ok! That makes perfect sense. Do you think that perhaps spraying the belt's backside with dull coat finish would help keep it from flaking?
