Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

Hmm... it looks good! Not sure about the eyebrows. maybe they are a bit too dark/distinct?

Oh, and I tried putting my Bif Bang Pow K-9 next to my Tom and it works pretty well! It's not really in-scale, but good enough for me until BCS give us a proper one.

That K-9 looks fantastic!:)

May? I was counting on it being in the post next month. Oh well. If we got the BC releases scheduled for this year, it's still a very full year.

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

I swapped the bodies on mine Doom, although the BC body is pretty good. But I always like HT bodies!
Are any of you chaps on the Facebook Big Chief Fans page? If not I'd recommend it, nice friendly place with helpful people who will advise on customising etc!

I am - we're facebook friends. We did a transaction involving the 1/6 11th Doctor's jacket some time ago

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

I must have missed it since I was briefly looking at your comment while I was at work. I feel like changing my 4th Doctor's body since Tom Baker is a big and hefty guy even when he was slender. The BCS body makes him too bony, imo.

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

Ah! Hello then mate! Hard to tell who's who with the names.
I agree about Tom, he needs to be a bit bigger. What body are you thinking of using?

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

I didn't know if was you till I saw your customs being the same as those posted on the BCS fan group. Anyway, I have a 1/6 TT body I got a while back. It was from a Bank Robber Joker figure. Would this TT body be good for a 4th Doctor figure?

Yes mate, should work fine. My Toms are all on TT's the 4th shoes will take HT foot pegs, just heat them up with a hair dryer before you pop them on as they are tight.

body-comparison.jpg

here is a not very good picture that I hope doesn't just confuse things further, but the Tom on the far left with the big scarf is on a standard Truetype body, the Tom in the middle is on an extra tall knock-off truetype narrow shoulders body I got from eBay, and Eleven on the end (obviously not in his Timelord clothes :lol) is on the standard Big Chief body.

I'm very happy with the extra tall narrow-shoulders body because it gives Tom the extra height without bulking him up, but it also looks like it might be pretty hard to get that body now. A regular narrow-shoulders will do the trick almost as well and is definitely a much better scaled body for someone Tom's size than the slim body Big Chief originally sent him out on.

I didn't actually mean to have the attachment but since it's there...

The Tom on the left is a completely stock Big Chief Tom on the Big Chief Body and the Tom on the right is the same Tom on the standard truetype body that's on the far left above, but with an earlier version of my custom scarf.

Duck of death, that bottom pic I feel really shows how much better Tom looks on the TT body. The clothes fit better and the head looks a better size too

This is the closet I've got to a stock outfit now. This is a TT body.

This is a TT body, with the BC trousers and shoes. Again I feel a good height and scale for Tom. I love the BC shoes, they are very well done.

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

How much did you get the season 14 jacket, Captain? After receiving the replacement jacket from BCS and seeing images of the 1:1 jacket on google, I realized how inaccurate the stock jacket is. That said, I would like to someday have a more accurate one commissioned, but in the meantime, I would probably get one that Geewhiz already made.

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

I've seen the extra tall TT slim body on ebay the other day. I think it was $40 dollars. I can't find it at the moment.

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

Geewhizcustoms will make anything you like mate, it's all one off stuff. Send them a message on Facebook and ask for a quote. They are really good to deal with.

My worry with the tall body is the BC trousers might be too short? They fit on a normal tt fine, but the longer legs could be tricky.

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

Thanks for the suggestion. I will contact Geewhizcustoms for a quote. I also agree with the tall body not being able to fit the BC trousers. DuckOfDeath images look like they do, but for my 4th, I will stick to the normal TT body since I do not think Tom Baker is that tall and the normal TT is around the same height as the stock BCS. IMO, the tall clone buck would be great for Silence customs.

The head on the TT body in the bottom picture is a customized head. It's been bulked up so it's not the same size as the head on the tall body which is much closer to being the stock BC head. For me, I'm very happy with the way the clothes fit on the taller figure. In his Doctor days, Tom was at least 6'3" so I feel like the tall body is much better scale to his real life height. The trousers fit just fine since you can adjust the length of his suspenders/braces.
