Great edit someone on FB did fixing the points I didn't like. Smaller head and wider chest/shoulders. Wish they would tweak these aspects. Makes such a big difference in how the proportions come across.

They really consistently ruin the torsos of these guys, probably a fat suit under there again

That would’ve been cool, but if the top on this one is constructed anything like the 1.0, removing it would be a pain. You’d definitely need two bodies

I was looking forward to this but I think it's a pass for me. I'm honestly happy to skip the whole insanity of the ordering process.

Yeah, I am not looking forward to this "process' at all.

But I do really want this figure so I am going to give it a shot, it will be my first time dealing with the que.

1/6 scale clothing isn't cheap. Anyone who's been part of custom runs knows this. Full custom 1/6 clothing runs cost about the same if not more than this whole figure will be.

Leather work in 1/6 is even more expensive. It cost me ~$275 to get a real leather coat made for the HT 1/6 Redskull since the pleather was falling apart. That's just the coat, not even a full costume. And that was on the cheaper side compared to other tailors that do real leather work.

It's no different than a real 1:1 human leather jacket costing more than a fake leather jack. Better materials simply cost more. Just getting about 18inches of real, quality scaled leather straps to use for 1/6 belt making costs me about $3/each depending on color, size and thickness. You might say that isn't much, but the same straps in pleather cost about $1.00.


You're most likely correct. just some tweaks to whatever padding they use to bulk it out

the hair isn't sewn in. The wool is manually glued and styled by hand. From what we know, factory workers had to be trained to do this; therefore, the "rooted" hair isn't done by a machine which is why InArt's rooted headsculpts come with such varying degrees of quality. It's a very labor intensive process and why most custom artist charge no less than $300 just to do the hair work.

Yes, these are mass produced products, but to say that these should be cheaper frankly just shows how uninformed some are of how much cheaper these sorts of updates that companies like InArt and HT are implementing really are compared to where the cost of things like rooted hair and real leather upgrades originate from.

We're getting full figures with moving eyes, real leather (at times, should be always though), and rooted hair for the price of a custom 1/6 dress suit.

Do I like paying these prices? No, of course not. But, I do understand why they cost this much.

Materials are one thing but mainly you’re paying for the labor since it’s so time consuming for custom work (not to mention R&D, licensing, overhead, distribution, etc. for mass produced items).

When you bring a car to be fixed by the mechanic, you pay for the parts but labor is typically well over half the expense.

Also you have to factor in opportunity cost.

I'm still iffy about the proportions between the head and shoulders, but this is an improvement over the 1.0. Annoyingly, I recently bought one of those third-party outfit sets since the original pleather had disintegrated on mine, so this stings a bit (not that the third-party set is great, just serviceable). I don't mind that we aren't getting the make-up sculpt, but not including the Gerber knife is a missed opportunity.

I never displayed that eye make up head on the 1.0 and probably never would have here either. Just would’ve stayed in the box, so I’m not missing it.

I actually displayed it with the make-up sculpt for the longest time simply because it was the only fully unmasked Bucky head, and I had an unmasked Cap/WS display. And then I tried the goggles/mask look, and that's been my display ever since. Not sure if I want to hide this sculpt with the goggles/mask though.

Real leather jackets come at like a $50 premium. Quality rooted hair comes at a $125-$150 premium. These things are true whether the maker is InArt or Hot Toys. One can critique the execution of minor details but a sub-$300 figure this is not.

I think I agree with MarkKing on this one. Sub $300 up to $400 is HKD prices, as you said it’s 20-25% more overseas due to up charges, so you guys have no choice but to pay or don’t play. Excluding a $ amount we place on sentimental value, I’m hard pressed to spend $500 on a figure (the most expensive HT artisan to date in HK was ~$430, overseas buyers would’ve paid $500+), and if I do, I’d really just spend it on Inart quality because I know they can deliver better value for $ imo.

“It doesn’t matter how much cheaper it is in HK, I can’t get it there” - true, so you pay however much it costs say $400+, but is it overpriced or fair value? I don’t know the costs of production but i believe the highest cost is making the sculpts and body, most of the rest (accessories, dios) are cheap but happy to be corrected. So if I’m paying 400-500, I’d want good value - an additional sculpt and tons of accessories.

This Winter Soldier if you’re paying 400-500 is pretty overpriced. Although every HT artisan sold overseas will be at least 400 so you guys have no choice. If I don’t factor sentimental value, like I don’t care to own a Winter Soldier but sub $350 is fair to me (my Inart Joker worked out to be $385 each). Not raining on anyone, I just like to discuss cost/value.

My base thinking is all 1/6 seems over priced. Hot Ttoys should be 200 give or take depending on extra sculpts. Clothing is cheap to make, but sculpting is where to tooling is at.

Yes agreed. Most 1/6 leans more to overpriced than it is fair or good value.

Another thing that could affect the pricing for this and new announcements going forward is the news that there will be 10% tariffs on Chinese imports starting Feb 1st. I’m not sure if they factored that in yet since it was a possibility before and now it seems likely to happen.

That doesn't say much unless the figure is so undesirable (gold batman beyond and the Iron Patriot which are still everywhere in HK despite being limited), as all artisans will sell out the same. When I PO'd the Samurai Predator, I lined up in Secret Base starting from 11.30 AM (shop opens 11AM) until 2:30 PM. there was a massive queue going down 5 floors down, and there were grandmas in the queue who clearly weren't collectors, A LOT of elderly folks doing the work for scalpers.

interested in the topic on tariffs but admittedly dont know much about its developments, Trump has held off on it for now, but if/when its in place, i think it'll only affect the guys living in the US.

Then do you just wait and hope that your number in the que comes up before all the figures have sold out?

You should get an email and/or text when it’s time to get into the “waiting room” which is usually about 15mins before the designated time. I would recommend to already be logged into whatever device(s) you plan on using prior that to save yourself that step when the time comes. Also, I believe only ppl who RSVP’d can get the link and/or actually order but can’t remember exactly so could be wrong.

Anyway, once the “waiting room” time expires, you’ll be put into the queue. Don’t be too concerned about the large number as you have to remember that there are ppl who are on multiple devices which bumps up the total number of ppl in the queue.

Once you have you place, you just wait until it’s your turn, and, as you said, hope there’s still stock left by that time. Usually the queue page will update with “50% remaining” or something by along those lines.

I agree there's no reason to stop or lower prices because some people will buy Artisan no matter what. That's not what i'm disputing. I'm just echoing what the other said that this should be a sub $300 fig which in HKD terms it is. Value is subjective so we could go back n forth all day long, if it's $500 you'll buy it if you love Winter Soldier but vs Inart products that are also $500 (Paul Atredies, any of the Harry Potters), you're not getting the same bang for buck.

And actually the Patriot is exactly the same price as this at 2780 HKD, so yeah I do know.
