Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

That likeness isn't as good as I thought I remembered. Better than the very first one we saw which I do recall was immediately awful but that later sculpt still isn't quite there.

You won't have to worry about this ever being on your shelf, so ... at least there's that.

Never noticed the cat carrier. Looks like it was made out of cardboard, printed paper and tape.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

Alien is no Star Wars/Marvel film, but am I naive in thinking that this would have sold REALLY well?

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

This likely would do worse than Marty so no, not well at all. Don't care, still want.

Worse than Marty? The main character from ALIEN? Man, everyone I know loves that movie... BTTF less so.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

the colonial marines would sell like hot cakes....

Ripley is a GIVEN.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

...I want to believe...

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

We can not compare back to the future with alien...actualluly how many companies are working with the alien franchise? Neca sideshow, coolprops, kotobukiya...and with back to the future? I'm sorry i only know hot toys. How many fans are out there interested on buying alien figures? Probably a lot of more than btf figures...just an opinion

I didn't know it.I mean, you just have to look at this forum, there is an special post for alien statues and figures but there is not an specific post for back to the future. I don't wanna mean that there are no companies working with BTF franchise, just that they are not as known/popular as the ones who works with the alien franchise.

Look at neca, I think they are in the 7th series from Alien: each year lots of new figures. Sideshow, each year sourprise us (or not) with a new bust, statue etc..and regarding hot toys, we had the big chap, the warrior, the dog...also there was more companies like palissades, Sega..who made alien figures...and if there was and there are plenty of companies working on it, it's because there are lots of fans buying their things...and trust me, a big part of them would buy ripley too:) 500, 1000? May be...some of these companies has limited figures to 500 for instance so why not a limited edition for ripley? Just in that forum they will sell 100 minimum! And in hot toys facebook there are lots of fans waiting for ripley as well, so....i don't lnow where is the problem..

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

It took NECA a very long time and a lot of negotiations to get Weavers likeness rights. For all we know that might be where it all stranded for HT and not the expected sales. I think it's more plausible as HT has in fact released several narrower figures lately.

I think so but 2 years without news about it, is too long.I hope to get more news about it this summer with the 30th anniversary of Aliens...
