My fear with the rooted hair is that eventually it will end up looking like this:

For the most part, I'm a rooted hair fan, because unlike all those who claim it makes it look like a doll, I believe that's more about male insecurities than anything else (large masses of chunky, long sculpted hair that looks like a helmet screams toy to me). But in this case... my guess is after the 2nd prototype, they couldn't get a production piece to look like anything but the mess in your pic, and had no alternative but to go with sculpted. So, I'm fine with it, as long as it looks good once/if it finally goes up for PO.

i imagine producing that style of rooted hair they gave her on a mass level probably saw a huge drop in quality. it looked like a tricky hairstyle to get right on one figure let alone 2 thousand of them.

Ripley will show up at random, just like Marty and Batman Returns did eventually.


Like Marty and Batman however, it won't be worth the wait. Her figure will go up, it'll be a mediocre, half assed release, you'll get it and that will be it. The new line will pretty much start and end with just Ripley. Honestly, after everyone has this in hand they'll probably look back and think "man, the most exciting thing about this figure was seeing it at that one show years ago". I don't feel an anticipation for what they make anymore. Last cool thing they did that surprised me was the Damaged Robocop 2-pack with the surprise Alex Murphy.

No male insecurities here. I currently have only two other female figures in my collection: Selina Kyle (The Dark Knight Rises) and the recently received Leia from "Star Wars". Selina's long and straight rooted hair is really the only way to go, in her case. Looks amazing and should remain so indefinitely. On the other hand, Leias "Danish Buns" could only come out perfectly as sculpted hair.

I agree with you that Ripley's hair style would better be served (in the long run) by sculpted hair. I did like the rooted hair look, but feared that it would eventually lose it's "style" and revert to bird's nest mess. I think the sculpted hair on Ripley looks fine and can't wait to just be able to order "any" Ripley soon!

I just wish they would show her already! I've grown to like the sculpted hair now and with the possibility of them showing proper pictures of her, I'm sure it will look fine. I hope......
