New sculpt looks like Tom Holland.

That second sculpt with the rooted hair was almost dead-on. Even if it looks like a slightly older Weaver, at least it LOOKS like Weaver. Really boggles the mind that this debate is still on.

Sculped hair is better. The sculpt isn't perfect, but the rooted hair looks like it was pulled from a drain.

That was hilarious. And I agree. That rooted hair would have gone bad in no time and there would be torches and pitchforks sold out everywhere...

I agree. No to rooted hair. It already looked bad on the prototype and would have looked even worse on the production piece.

I disagree . The rooted hair version looked awesome . Bad move by hot toys . The sculpted hair will lose its color in a year or so and look like crap just like winter solider .

Funny thing is - before they switched to sculpted hair all the complaints were people wanting sculpted hair. Then they switched it to sculpted and now all of a sudden the "Rooted 4 Life" fans came out of the woodwork

Personally think the final head sculpt is pretty decent! My own gripe - which did actually put me off it, and which I think can be seen in the comparison photos above - is that the clothing is "off"; the jumpsuit material doesn't mimic the actual material at all IMO, and I'm disappointed by that.

Doesn't make it an objectively bad figure of course, just that it's a particular detail which has been enough to put me off buying one.

Still hoping they do a spacesuit Ripley tho, and/or that I like the eventual Aliens Ripley with Powerloader once we get to see the final version.

The previous sculpt looked nothing like Adrienne Barbeau either. But it's a lot closer to Weaver (face-wise, forget about the hair) than the current one.

At this point I think HT R2-D2 will have a greater impact in my collection next to Bespin Luke than Ripley. I think i'll miss not owning all her accessories including base than Ripley herself.

I remember when I first got into this threat and most were bashing the second sculpt and the rooted hair. Now that they responded on that the second sculpt is suddenly oh so brilliant. Hehe... I think you guys will find her satisfactory in hand. But we'll see.
No matter what I'm pretty happy with this version. Much more Ripley 1979 than the second one was:

I think the sculpt is a pretty good attempt.

However, in our memories, we think of the more mature Sigourney, and thus we think the sculpt is a bit weak.
But it's quite close.

For me, the letdown comes with the jumpsuit. The material looks too thick and tight. I expected a better material used, like the one used in the TFA TIE fighter pilot.

Exactly my point. It's like some people can't distinguish between the Ripley they have in their head and the actual screen appearance of Ripley in 1979.

You say this as if HT should go with what's in people's minds and not what she actually looked like at the time? I think that's exactly what they shouldn't do.
