So... the Genisys endo has some serious scale issues.

Place your bets now. Will Ripley be a giant or a midget when she finally arrives?

I'll bet they slap some ankle extensions on a standard female body and call it a day. They weren't going spend the time or resources to engineer/assemble an accurate body for a license that ... to put it politely ... isn't a priority. So she'll probably be a little taller than other female figures, but not tall enough. Disappointing, sure, but I'm pretty used to being disappointed by the way this figure has been handled at this point. :(

Problem solved!

OSR bumped her for Doctor Strange. She probably won't be out next week.

OSR have been wrong, but this is Ripley. So I'm going to presume they're right.
In fact if this slips into next year, I wouldn't be at all surprised at this point, then the year after. But don't worry! it will still be in the catalogue for absolutely no reason other than laugh at those waiting for her.

In two weeks, this thread will be three years old. I was going to make a humorous remark, but there is no humor in this.:ohbfrank:

Today's the day...month....year....century...

Please HT. Please....

Well, some of you may have figured out we don't have the figure yet. It's only halfway here. Hot Toy's has interrupted the course of her journey. They're inclined to do that should certain situations arise - they have. It seems they have intercepted a transmission from Marvel Studios to prioritise virtually every other figure over her. They issued that coming soon poster to rile us up.

This long delay got me thinking...

Is Ripley and Alien not popular as licensed character figures (as we think, maybe)?
Or
Hot Toys product just doesn't meet customers' expectation while it's still a hot license?

Maybe HT doesn't do their best because doing multiple revision passes don't have return value to them?

You've got a gift, man.

The license may not be as popular across the board as Disney's stuff (by that I mean there are fewer characters under the Alien license that would be big sellers than there are under the Marvel license -- we've gotten Downey Jr. in a plaid shirt and vest for God's sake).

Having that said, Hot Toys aren't helping their chances by putting minimal effort into figures from these older licenses. If anything, they should focus more on getting Ripley and co. right because the quality will actually determine sales. People aren't as hesitant to buy a mediocre Iron Man as they are to buy an Alien or Predator figure that looks off.

My thinking is: folks saw the lousy prototype and decided to hold off on PO'ing until in-hand pics came. HT interprets that as a lack of interest so they put the figure on the backburner and perhaps allocate even fewer resources in production. They're basically screwing themselves and blaming it on the consumer in circular fashion.

It's a wonder that Alien Girl thing even got off the ground. Years of waiting for some main characters or much-needed 2.0 monsters and that's what they put out.

Whether conceptually or technically, they do a terrible job with these licenses.

It seems like Dr. Strange will be released next. What figure has the record for the longest delay?? Lol
