Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

Agreed.

I was kinda hoping this would be the relaunch of the HT Aliens line with a new Alien and Colonial Marines, etc, to come.

Same here. Still might happen but right now I'd like to get this preordered. At this rate it'll take 2 years from when it was shown at SDCC to get it in-hand.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

The whole crew of the Nostromo smoked even at the table while others were eating. So gross. They kind of got what they deserved, ya know?

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

And True Lies sucked. She drops a gun down the stairs and it goes off killing all the bad guys...great cinema...please...LOL

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

I know another movie that sucked - Crash

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

Did HT even get the rights to produce a figure with Sigourney's likeness? I thought she only gave permission for them to produce a prototype or 2. This could be what's holding up the figure.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

TBH I'm not expecting to hear anything this side of summer, as I assume everything HT is now focussed on their ensemble of Age Of Ultron figures, as well as shipping the continuing overspill from previous Marvel films (Yes! HT have the Marvel licence! I know, it'd be hard to tell, given how few Marvel-related figures HT release).

Maybe when their cash register stops ringing they might do some work on one of these silly old movies they've also licensed, which is fair enough I 'spose. Doubt 1/6 Ripleys will be paying anyone's salary, but still..
:impatient:

Edit: Oh yeah, and something called "Star Wars". I believe that may be another vaguely popular line for HT over the next 18 months or so, despite it also being a silly old movie ;)

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

....and don't forget Star Wars....if Ep7 it's the right note, it'll be the SW express from Hot Toys...may reach a point where they only way HT will do anything other than Marvel or SW is if has Johnny Depp playing the character (Ichabod Crane or Tonto anyone? Anyone?)

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

....and don't forget Disneys Star Wars....Even if Ep7 is awful, it'll still be the Disney SW express from H̶o̶t̶ Disney Toys...may reach a point where they only way HT will do anything other than Disney Marvel or Disneys SW is if has Johnny Depp playing the character (Ichabod Crane or Tonto anyone? Anyone?) or it's a Disney movie like Maleficent

Fixed.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

I remember when HT first announced the Marvel license. They spoke of the X-Men, Spider-Man and Blade trilogies. Weird what we ended up with. No Doc Ock or Green Goblin, no Magneto, no Blade 1 Blade and Frost. They truly baffle with their choices sometimes.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

I'm just concerned that now, after seeing their prototype bodies for 79 & 86 Ripley, that they may use the silly rubber for a new Leia body.

****ing hope not. :cuss

True Lies was a comedy/James Bond spoof though :dunno

How do we get Hot Toys to stop using rubber for things? I jumped on the bandwagon because I saw they'd stopped using it, or at least cut back on it quite drastically, now suddenly they're back to their rubber-loving ways :slap

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

Yeah.. what do we do indeed, huh. :lol

When I saw the new Commando Arnold pics (rubber arms), I just shook my head - I was like, "they're going there again?"

The only 'rubber' related HT figure I own is the 89 Keaton Batman, & that's actually fine right now - that said, I've hardly touched it. They're a great company, but **** do they make some stupid *** decisions sometimes.

Rubber is actually fine if you keep the figures in static poses that don't have the arms in a bent position. That's what I plan on doing with the commando figure so no worries about the rubber here luckily

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

It defeats the purpose of them being 'action figures' though, if we're scared to move the joints - & keep favoured poses.

There's no excuse for them going there again, because they've already shown they can make nice base bodies with subtly designed ball joints in the arms.

There's no question I'll be getting that Commando figure, due to my love of the movie and good memories associated with it regarding friends who were fans too, but I'm already planning on getting non-rubberised muscular arms to airbrush some camo onto and keep in a drawer waiting for the day the rubber fails. Also, if they don't make a Bennett I'm actually going to kill someone :lol

Robocop is a case in point, I love the thing but I'm too afraid of straining the rubber at the elbows and knees to have it in anything other than a 'limbs stock straight' pose on display. Really defeats the point of an 'action figure', especially with my Silver Centurion busting some moves right next to him. Glad they ditched most of the rubber on the Iron Man figures, at least.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

I've never had a problem with the rubber on any of my figures and I pose the **** out of them. What the hell are you guys doing to your figures?

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

I love Commando too man, but that figure? Nah.. don't need / want it.

I'm in for the RoboMurphy, & I suspect it'll have those same joints. Not great, but I'll see how the in hand reviews go first.
