Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

I've never had a problem with the rubber on any of my figures and I pose the **** out of them. What the hell are you guys doing to your figures?

Living in fear of them.

I love Commando too man, but that figure? Nah.. don't need / want it.

I'm in for the RoboMurphy, & I suspect it'll have those same joints. Not great, but I'll see how the in hand reviews go first.

From the not-battle-damaged one, I can tell you it looks amazing, but when you move the elbow joints in particular and look at them from behind as you do so it's terrifying. As far as I can tell there's nothing inside the elbow other than some kind of pin joint, and that rubber's stretching awfully far to accommodate the range of motion.

It looks good and it's all very film-accurate to be sure, but honestly I just don't see how it will possibly stand up to repeated use or holding full flexion of the elbow over time. No rubber's that durable.

Check out the rubber deterioration threads - that'll give you some idea.

I have. None of those problems apply to any of my figures. That's why I get so confused when I see other peoples figures crapping out on them. Are people re-posing their figures every two weeks?

What's the point of an articulated figure if you can't pose them twice a week? LOL

The arms and legs on my mars attacks martians have cracked up at the knees and elbows even though they were left in straight arm poses.

I don't expect archeologists of the future will be unearthing any perfect specimens of early 21st century action figures, so don't get too worked up about it.

I own both Mars Attacks figures and I have no cracks. Weird.

Pre-order coming.... Fill in the blank

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

Didn't someone say Hot Toys just recently officially re-upped the aliens license? Perhaps that has been what the delay is all about and now that the license renewal is secured they can proceed with the figures? If that theory holds any water the PO could be real soon.

Of course that theory could be way off...

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

I've never heard that but I guess it's possible. Or maybe HT just want to focus on making AOU and interrogator droids :huh

Not really sure why they bothered giving her PERS, since it was already a perfect looking sculpt with her just looking straight ahead. Still though, this will be a definite buy for me... whenever the heck they actually release it.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

I'm waiting for the pre-order myself. A definite companion piece for Big Chap, or the other way around depending on how you look at it.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

If the figure does have PERS, we can easily get someone to do a sculpted hair piece so that rat's nest won't be a problem. :lol
