Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

What!!!? :horror

You're gonna regret it man..

With that hair? Nah.

Seriously, though I would be concerned about how that hair is gonna look, my primary reason is I'm cutting back and killing off completism. Aliens being the film I have slightly more attachment to so an Aliens version of Ripley is one I'd be more content to go with. I'll represent '79 Ripley with the NECA stuff even though their one does look somewhat like Bob Geldof.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

He was another case of ''ooooh! Shiny! Must buy!'' and I even posted to that effect but now I'm not so sure. I haven't even seen that film in it's entirety.

You need to fix that as soon as possible. It's hard to explain why it's so good, because on paper it should be awful - there's just something endlessly compelling about it.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

I think I will only buy the '79 Ripley. I don't have room for the power loader, as cool as it would be.

But if HT came out with an Aliens Ripley that looked like this:

Then I'm not sure I could resist.

Yeah.. I think you probably know my stance on hair / fur / rubber bodies too.. but it's '79 Ripley.

I AM getting this one. It's calling to me.. :lol

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

I'm obsessed with the first three movies. I told myself a couple years back that I'd only buy one figure of a character in the same scale. With Alien being my favorite franchise (and Hot Toys finally giving us what we want), I don't think I can resist getting both. Hell, I'd buy an A3 version if there were a Doggy to go along with it.

I do want to comment, however, that I'm not sure what the progression has been sculpt-wise, but if the order of updates goes like this...

...that second sculpt was the best for Weaver's appearance in the first film IMO. Unless the low-angle lighting on the third sculpt is what's throwing me off, but that one looks much more Aliens-y.

I didn't realize until these three pictures were posted together that the last picture actually showed a tweaked sculpt. Obviously the eyes are looking up, but the mouth seems to be open wider showing more teeth and the brows aren't so furrowed. It's certainly taking awhile, but a can't see them not releasing this after making even more changes.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

The one labelled ''new version'' is still the best this figure has looked.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

Still not perfect. Especially considering the major improvements on the other figures. Gamora looks amazing.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

I don't know about anyone else but I would be happy with even the 'old version' at this point. guess they won't approve the prototype...

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

I would not be upset at all if the "looking up" one appears on the Aliens figure. I can get behind that one for an 86 Ripley face.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

It's not going to be looking up that drastically when the face is pointing dead ahead, & you're looking at thing in hand - at eye level! :lol

Wait till the specs hit ya freaks. :stick

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

I think the third pic is the most life-like. I'm hoping this means we're getting 2.0s of the Aliens/Marines as well. But, not before Wolf and Jungle Hunter please hot toys!
