Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

So it is, that's a bit of a blast from the past.

That makes me wonder if they actually have any intentions of updating the Chap.

I hope so! I don't wanna drop mad money on the old one just so they can release a new, better-looking one. Ripley and the Big Chap would be so sweet.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

Any updates on this? Sure hope it hasn't stalled or worse yet, canceled.

Really want this one. Still sore HT seems to have abandoned Prometheus...hope they don't let this pass too.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

No new news. I fear the two Ripleys, along with the DX15, have been pinned beneath the Marvel and SW OT buses. :lol

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

Well hopefully the fact they went through the trouble of revising the headsculpt so early on means they're seriously interested in releasing this.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

I think Ripley's chances are better than even Batman Returns at this point. You don't finally acquire Sigourney Weaver's likeness permission only to not bother making anything - I mean if anyone could do that HT would what with their Marvel(ous)erection but I don't think they will. I think Ripley will indeed happen. **** knows about anything else though or how far off any of it will be with the year that's in it.

ripley will be made.....

after your first born turns 6. :lecture

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

Like adev said, you don't obtain the likeness rights of an actor that has been sought after for years and do nothing with it. We all know Hot Toys is going through a very heavy Marval and Star Wars love fest right now. Ripley will be the "it's about ****ing time" figure that will come at some odd and random time in the next year.

The same thing seems to have happened to the VGM Raiden figure, except that was actually released for preorder. It was supposed to come out December/January and there's been no news, updates, pictures or any new information on it for months.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

I said it last year that we would see Dx15 in 2015 SDCC and it looks like it heading that way. Might as well throw Ripley into the mix.

Brilliantly put - and as and when it comes out - it will be Marty Mcfly all over (well almost)

I am still pendulumming on just Ripley or Ripley with power loader :( .... Hmm

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

I've decided I'll pass on the 1979 version. And unless a 1986 Ripley is made available without the Powerloader then I'll be passing on her altogether at high end because I don't really want a 1:6 Powerloader anymore. It'll probably have the breaking hoses problem again anyway.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

You say that now. The official pics and hype will change your mind.

I have no doubt. But since I no longer preorder figures that hype will pass. It will return again when the OMG and Jingobell pics go up and that will be the real test....

I am also now slow on preods unless (must haves released with exclusive)... Have too many now and too many boxed up!

Are you buying matrix / commando?

He was another case of ''ooooh! Shiny! Must buy!'' and I even posted to that effect but now I'm not so sure. I haven't even seen that film in it's entirety.

That, you should certainly do. The figure, though... personally, I'm holding out for Dutch or a 1/4 police shootout T-800. Commando's one of my favorite Arnold movies, but more for watching; less for collecting and really getting into it the way I would with a more iconic, artistically appealing franchise.
