been wanting to revisit this figure because I never understood why I was never really into it as I wanted this done for so long. I think its because I just didn't really like the result. Glad I waited a few years to get better at hiring. Aside from the full repaint and re hair I made her taller and ai chromed the Chap's teeth and nails with real chrome plating.

Great job on Ripley!
Brings out a lot more of the likeness, but it also makes it easier to see exactly where it fails.
Still, if it had looked like that out of the box, I probably would've bought one!

Sorry for raising this thread from the dead but what would be the best replacement body for Ripley (Alien ver), as far as skin tone, height etc? Cheers in advance for any advice

I think it was 16A. Ripley custom was done back in 2019. I remember I used some pale medium breast option and had to trim down the breast further..

It's called "kotobukiya MECHANICAL CHAIN BASE"
There are many sets you can put together for any sci-fi figures or model kits.
It's not 'Weyland Yutani' specific thou.

Oh, that's just Photoshop overlay - I use that Diorama for many Sci-fi figures.
It's not too difficult to make the decal using inkjet printer these days thou.

From the teases at a handful of SDCC to finally a official preorder to inhand I can’t remember how many years I had to wait. But when I finally had her in hand it was very underwhelming. I was the “Generic Face” period for Hot Toys. Commando, Sleepy Hollow, Bruce Banner etc. Anyways I sold and used the proceeds for something better!!

Agreed. I knew I had to have ‘79 Ripley representation, so I splurged to get it.

With Romulus coming out, I’d hope they’d revisit the IP and come out with Big Chap 2.0, and a modern day Aliens Ripley with Power Loader, at least.

They teased that a few years ago but nothing came of it. There isn't a lot of rhyme or reason to when HT decides to dip into older films, so it's just as likely as anything else. But I'm not holding my breath. More likely they'll do characters from the new film, unfortunately.

Yes I’ve got a folder of all those teases. Some times i go in there and have a little cry lol.

Yeah, I’ve seen their Prometheus tease in 2014 as well.

That’s the problem with Hot Toys; making figures from the new “flavor of the week”stuff which isn’t always critically acclaimed. I hope Romulus is good, but I’d prefer if they just did what works lol.

If they do at least the alien from Romulus which is redesigned based on the 79 Big Chap, I think I’ll take it
