Hono isn’t wasting any time it seems. They’ve officially teased that Magneto and Thor are on their way. Hopefully their version of “coming soon” isn’t like that of HT :lol I’ll probably pass on Thor as he was never a favorite of mine in the comics, but it would definitely be difficult to pass on Magneto if he looks good and has a better body than that of both SSC’s and PT’s figures.

I wish they announce this line much earlier, like 7-8 years ago.
Collecting is much more affordable in those Phase 2-3 MCU times. If this line were made back then, I would have jump right away from MCU HT train

I know what you mean, I sold off most of my MCU figures when third parties started producing Marvel figures. Also once we started getting AAA Marvel games, I didn't really care for the MCU characters as much. I'm mostly going for 90s to mid 2000s comic versions now.

Actors come and go, but these characters will endure long after. The only Hot Toys I have for any MCU characters are ones that I feel will have a "timeless" quality to them that transcends the actors themselves - Iron Man, Moon Knight, Deadpool, mostly other masked characters. I went with Classic Spider-Man over the MCU version.

Wolverine in his classic outfit - straight out of the Jim Lee era - is a design that I think I'd look back on 10, 20, 30 years later and feel like it's not just a snapshot of a particular moment in time but an iconic representation of an iconic character.

The first toys line that got me into collecting marvel is old toybiz spiderman animated, some x-men then move on to marvel legends, after that we witness some of the worst figure from hasbro so most of my friends including me move to 1/6 Hot Toys MCU.
Still there is lack of great comic accurate figure of marvel hero (medicom and sideshow just didn't interest me that much to purchase it), until mafex come with their comic line , ML is getting better and worthy of its price, mezco too with their latest tiger stripe wolverine.. This made me return to collecting 6".

Now here's come Hono and they looks very promising.. but I don't know, start collecting a new brand are too tiring for me.. (but again, their 1/6 comic is so tempting 🤣). If I decide to preorder this, I have to sell some of my MCU HT, maybe some ML or mezco. It's dangerous to want to get into every af line..

Why is everyone acting like Hono is the Second Coming lol? One figure for $160 from the same company (HT) that a huge number of people on this forum claim to despise. Hilarious.

HT is the leader in 1/6 figure collections, and the singular most popular distributor on these boards. They have some issues - as any company does - but anyone “despising” them is surely in the vast minority.

I’m excited because I value comics > movies in terms of representation, and a quality 1/6 comic line at an affordable price ensures I get what I prefer AND spend less to get it. Win-win for collectors like me.

:exactly: :lecture :exactly:

Price point is a HUGE deal.

My guess is there were a number of companies trying to get the 1:6 Marvel (and DC) comic license, but it was probably tied up with Sideshow, similar to Star Wars a few years ago. For example, SooSoo’s Gambit may have actually been a proof of concept along the lines of HT’s ESB Luke Skywalker. Meanwhile, Sideshow fumbled around trickling out a handful of mediocre figures. Depending on whatever were the original terms, either the license was pulled or not renewed. Hono/HT likely threw whatever money was necessary to secure the license. Hopefully the 1:6 DC comic license is also in play or will be soon.

Because hate and love is two side of the same coin 🤭
Sometimes HT is like that b*tch that you used to simp for but they will screw you, destroy your account and you swore that you will hate them for the rest of your life. Once they realize you are getting smart, they will find some way to reel you back in, spread their legs, etc, saying yep, this is what you are looking for 🤣

I’m guessing that Thor and Magneto will be more expensive because they are actually unmasked characters even though they both have helmets. It will be interesting to see their take on these “faced” characters and how stylized they will be.

I remember collecting toy biz back then. They were amazing back then. The quality of the figures they made was top notch. Spider-Man 1 and 2 figures are still great to this day. The switch from them to hasbro was so sad. The dip in quality and then I remember the first Spider-Man 3 line being utter trash. Anyway. Wasn’t until like 2008 when I got into the 1/6th scale game or started collecting more stuff

Ideally they would include both a helmeted sculpt and unhelmeted but I'm thinking they'll go the cost saving route and only do helmeted.

They'll probably have both Thor and Magneto have their helmets permanently on but the front face section be swappable with 1-2 expressions.

With the Wolverine game leaks, I would bet we'll get some Hot Toys of some of these costumes, and some of them are pretty awesome updates to the classic look. This is still a comic-accurate version, but I might have to have more realistic update once Hot Toys gets around to it.
