it's actually a base for the figure, I just took parts of the base and used some double sided tape to put it in place.

Did you have to do anything to the new head sculpt to make it fit the old body or does it plug right in after taking off the old head and neck?

If you have Photoshop, open it in that and save it right side up. That usually works.
