Is everyone's shoulders black? I'm pretty sure that's a paint error. Looking at all the other t-800s online they are all chrome.

It's hard to tell which color is movie accurate. Black, gray, silver or chrome...

On the figure yes. But on everything else t-800 related no.

if you check the whole page, you'll find this question rased at least half a dozen times, with same pictures (like above) repeated. predarnold just quoted one of his posts on the subject :)

somewhere in between there was a really cool link to a computer render of the design made for the movie by the design's author. it shows how many black areas were originally supposed to be in Gynysys:

As I said, they're supposed be. It would've been neat if they added light up features in the gun as well. That would have justified the $250 price a bit more.

I'm going to say the one Arnold touched is correct. Black.

Figure is pretty snazzy. About a head too tall though.... Will post a pic later.

I'm still not convinced that the black part is canon. Yes it is in the original 3d design. However in the movie it's not black. I quote myself:

Everybody is bitching about the size of the thing. I dislike it too, however it seems this was already known from the start. I quote from page 6 of this same topic:

Here one can see the size differences already.

About the black shoulder thing. It's weird.

Chronicles doesn't have it:

A lifesize (not sure if it's a Chronicles?) has it during one of the premieres:

Other premiere endo doesn't have it:

Entertainment Weekly doesn't have it:

actually the original 3d design is the closest thing to the movie one (concerning those shoulder rings, not everything). it has black rings with chromed parts on both edges. same is in the movie, but instead of flat black there is charcoal grey. i'm just looking at screenshots from both future scenes and 1984 scenes right now. i posted them here when chest hoses position was discussed.
they are definitely not chromed like on original skeletons, yet they aren't deep black, one-color like on HT figure or on some behind-the-scene photos.

In some respects I'm disappointed the final design didn't follow through on having more of the flat black sections. If you're going to insist on updating the endo design the one thing here that really makes sense is the idea that some parts wouldn't be metal with the recent advances material science has made in regards to artificial ceramics and other substances, they could be made stronger and lighter out of these newer materials.

So good news on the cheap base. If you peel off the decal the grate is underneath, it just needs to be painted. The grate is not glued in or anything, just pegs in each corner.

Here is mine repainted....

And for fun I did a little experimenting with an alternate future landscape base.

Well done!! :clap
That's great news about the base! I'll definitely be upgrading mine when it shows up on Wednesday! Thanks again for the effort!

Lmao that is hilarious that it's just sitting unpainted underneath it. Thank you for bringing this to light though, it looked terrible before.

How are you enjoying the figure itself faults aside? Mine should be here in another 10 days or so...

the figure is actually really nice. Its a shame that HT didn't give it the attention it deserved. As far as the base goes, I couldn't believe it. I expected it to be flat underneath so imagine my surprise when I see the grated floor like the DX 13 and Pops figure base. So lazy all HT had to do was paint it!!!! Geez. Instead they opted for a decal?

I'm glad I found this out and was able to share with other collectors to help spruce this figure up some. The engineering on the figure is second to none as well as the chrome paint app. Sad they hit it out of the ballpark in those areas and just fell flat on their face everywhere else.
