I have dozens of figure that headscuplts i have rarely seen a good photo of. They (to me anyway) always look plastic and toyish in photos but much more like the actor or character on the shelf.

We are judging these things in 2D, under poor lighting most of the time, Photoshopped, filtered, maybe a little out of focus like that side by side photo, blown up to 3 or 4 times in normal size and a foot from your face. The way it will never be seen or looked at on your shelf.

These are a likeness not an exact copy of the actor. Yondu and a few others is an exception not the standard i think we are expecting to much for a couple hundred bucks (fighting words i'm sure :lol).

Well over 150 of these things and i have only really been disappointed with one figure and it was the Sneaky IM that did not even include a HS. I just really did not like the paint

I'm happy with my 1st BP but i really want to see this in hand so who knows maybe i might bit.

Really frustrated with this release. Sculpt looks not great to say the least but man that new suit looks absolutely awesome. As much as I don't want to support such downgrades in sculpt, I just need to have that suit and light option. It looks too cool to pass up.

No body will judge you on your purchase. For what you stated it’s still a good figure but just the sculpt is a let down (compared to prototype). I might buy this figure once it gets marked down in price through sideshow.

The sculpt was never leaving the box anyway regardless of how it looked. Finally going to be have an acceptable Black Panther in my collection. The first one with the incorrect boots was totally unacceptable.

Where, in China? Those pics are always crap.

Never counts until it gets into people's hands that you trust. You guys will be arguing over this for a month, until it gets here and then slowly, one by one, people start coming around and saying "hey its better in hand".

Seems to be the way with everything from HT. Natural course. With rare exception. Hopefully, for you guys, this isn't that rare exception.

This comparison is from a person's hands. People outside China/HK are already getting this figure, though it still has a month to hit the states. Go watch virtual devil's youtuble channel (though he doesn't review in English). Some of the best early in-hand videos we get.

Some of the latest figures seem to have production issues with the head sculpts. Almost seems like they are rushing these figures out before End Game and are contracting out to new factories that don't do quite as good of a job.

Maybe so, but I would expect the production molds to be made from the prototype sculpt (or final approved sculpt, if different). If the one on the right is as intended, HT decided to change his facial features for the worse.

I'd be interested in buying the sculpt from you if it's just gonna sit in the box.

Well this headsculpt debacle has been fortuitous for me. People's cancellations means a preorder spot opened up with the retailer I was hoping to go with. :D

That's what I think. Reminds me of polys w. great protos - guessing that whatever factory makes samples and promises to HT, and gets a contract and then cuts corners to save money. But it's on HT to reject. *Shrug* if HT doesn't care about their rep or lost/slow sales that's on them, but then HT shouldn't complain about KOs either. Heck you can still pick up Finn at a discount.

(Meanwhile resale prices for CW figs are insane - sure glad about my stash.)

Also think HT is throwing in accessories to distract from bad sculpts/paint. I could care less about Bucky's disintegrating arm *thing* which I will never use and think is kinda tacky, and could source weapons for Shuri. So I hope HT gets some blowback before those figs are messed up too w. bad sculpts and paint.

At least BP has a mask u can use.

The prototype looked like Boseman. The production sculpt is changed too much with the shape of the mouth, eyes, forehead. It went from a great likeness to more 'generic black male' mixed in. The beard helps muddle the differences. Without it I think we wouldn't even guess this was Boseman. If you cover the lower half of the face, and compare it to a Boseman picture, the differences stand out.

Not to mention the almost-googly eyes and boring flat paint. As compared to the awesome shading of Nat, SW, CW Tony, DS, Spidey...

Well, that's that. Congrats to folks who are happy getting him, really. Not like I don't have parts that usually stay in boxes. The light up is something I think I would forget to use after the newness wore off - for me. I wish my CW BP had the eye switchout.

Lmao bro are you serious? Some "incorrect boots" somehow is more unacceptable than an inaccurate headsculpt??? Your priorities are all wrong! :rotfl

The suit turned out amazing, I wish I liked that film version of the suit more than I do cause they nailed the final product, and the body looks great underneath. That sculpt though, the proto wasn't a Hela or Yondu jaw dropping likeness, but a good sculpt- the final though the softness in the detail and paint really make it look more like a recast than a legit HT sculpt. Shame, seems like you could get a lot of mileage out of that sculpt with a casual look or on the CW version, or even give T'Challa the T'Chaka suit for a fancy look. I mean I guess its generic enough now you could just call the sculpt young T'Chaka as it is.

dead.

It looks about as much like Atandwa Kani as it does Chadwick Boseman, which is to say it doesn't look like either of them, unless you say combine their faces together in one of those image averaging apps and end up with a lightly blurry head with general skin tone and facial hair

My priority is the Black Panther. I have no interest in displaying the actor's sculpt. I never displayed Tony Stark, Bruce Wayne or Steve Rogers. I never even bother to take the sculpts out of the box so it's of zero use to me. The low top sneakers they gave the first figure would irritate me every time I see it since it's not a extra part that stays in the box.

I don't notice the shoes, that is like arguing about bulge size. Some things I can safety ignore. The CW Black Panther is great, even without a mediocre headsculpt.
