I don't notice the shoes, that is like arguing about bulge size. Some things I can safety ignore. The CW Black Panther is great, even without a mediocre headsculpt.

Yeah, CW BP stands on his own no problem - never noticed the shoes either. Plus the suit has held up well, I nearly didn't get him because of fear of suit ripping degrading. Besides wanting a head sculpt, don't know why with both BPs HT doesn't add more clawed hands. Does anyone use the retracted claw hands? Speaking of stuff that doesn't leave the box.

The movie boots were seamless with the costume. Hot Toys decided to give the figure low top shoes. The second figure took care of that issue.

You mean the articulated ankle? Don't they do that with other figures like The Punisher, Thor, Starlord etc. ?

Not a terrible sculpt, it just looks like a generic black male.

Exactly. The quality of the sculpt is OK (albeit a little below their other production sculpts standards and way below the proto) but there is no likeness to the actor. It's generic. If the likeness was there then I wouldn't care as much in the downgrade in quality.

Sorry guys I'll trust the ones that have it in hand saying it looks just like Boseman, but you do you.

Ppl care about accuracy with their suits. Same way some do with their sculpts. Nothing wrong with that. I also dont give a rats about the sculpt as it would just rot in the box. But if something about the suit was off, shoes/boots included, it would bother me because thats what im actually displaying

Justin seems to think everything looks great. I was watching his Pangea Toy Samurai General review and he says they "absolutely nailed it" on the head sculpt when it actually looked pretty bad and nothing like Tom Cruise.

Yeah, everyone has their own preferences. Some times the little things bother me as well. For example, I want my Mark I to VII Iron Man to be around the same height in a hall of armor display like in the movies, but some will think that is OCD. Lots of people don't seem to care about head sculpts. I have enough versions of some characters where it's nice to show some with the head sculpt and some masked. Since this is the first Black Panther with a head sculpt, would have been nice if it came out more like the prototype. But we can always look forward to the next Black Panther figure.

Those doesn't look as glaring as what they did with panther because they have regular looking boots. The skin tight outfit with the boots integrated into the leggings looks a lot different if they decide to turn it into a low top sneakers. Imagine if the did it with a regular Spiderman figure costume it would stand out like a sore thumb also

With Justin's lighting in his review, the head sculpt actually looks like Boseman. The problem is the skin tone is too light. it may be different than the prototype, but it is still Boseman with lighter skin.

Personally i don't get the love for Justin as i find him to be very much a yes man looking for sponsorship in the same vain as all the other power reviewers. Also, his skill with lighting (washed out), posing (non existent), and commentary(rushed), leave a lot to be desired.

Dean is still king and the only guy i trust.

No offense Justin.

I’ve watched Justin’s videos since day 1. There’s no question the reviews have changed over time from authentically wanting to show his collection to strictly pumping out reviews for views. There’s nothing wrong with that but it is what it is.

I would comment regularly on his videos for a while, usually say something encouraging because I recognized he worked hard to get the reviews out quickly and did a good job overall.

Anyway, one time I made a comment about wanting more articulation in Spider-Man figures, and he left a snarky comment back and spoke about it on his podcast as if it was a completely ridiculous thought. I just found it off-putting.

Justin has called out Hot toys for disappointing figures before and has gotten frustrated with some and bascially said not to buy it. So i think he is pretty honest. I use reviews for a better look at the figure and accessories more than anything else.

HAHAHAHA, "no offense Justin"?!?!?! I honestly think any figure reviewer would take offense to your criticisms. Everyone is offended by everything nowadays, it's like why even say a word anymore, lol. But seriously, you didn't actually attack Justin or spew nonsense, you gave your honest critique of his methods and I'd hope that he (and his band of merry men) will see as honest, constructive criticism. He is really into growing his channel and takes his video very seriously, which I applaud him for, yet I do agree with your points and feel that some might be a matter of taste.
:dunno

Yeah there is nothing wrong with what he is trying to accomplish it’s just not my style. Hence no offense.

Dean and Clipper are the only 2 that have actually inspired me to buy figures though.

I agree that Justin's reviews started off great; his lighting and close ups were top notch and he spent lots of time going over the figure. Especially with the black panther figure, it felt a bit rushed, but at least I got to see the head sculpt. At this point, I use Dean Knight and Xenomorph for the no ********, super detailed reviews while Justin, Danoby, and Shart have the best lighting to see the details of the figure (imo). In other words, each group of reviewers serve an equally important purpose.

Yeah I seem to remember being excited when he was first starting out as well. I believe I found he and iamtoys around the same time.

Iamtoys is another who showed great promise with his exceptional skill with lighting , camera and posing but alas his videos run too long , he doesn’t change the poses up enough during that long stretch of commentary and frankly I get bored quickly and end up skipping through.

All that said both have brought far more to the community than I ever have.

I’ll stop commenting on reviewers in the Black Panther thread now.

The actual figure is really nice but the HS is definitely B team and that is disappointing. The stand materials are also a joke and honestly don’t look very safe to leave on for long periods of time.
