Was the ESB snowtrooper the last trooper two pack?

i dont think they did. i believe they were a single release

The ROTJ Stormtroopers were sold single as either a standard or deluxe edition (deluxe had a Death Star diorama piece).

Probably because they’re pretty basic. Definitely rare to get a figure from Hot Toys for under $200 though.

I don’t know if I would call it basic. It’s a new body for them (unless you count the parts they did for Obi-Wan) and looks reasonably complicated in its articulation.

The Snowtrooper and TK-14057 packs were announced very close together at the end of 2016 for a 2017 release but the RO Stormtroopers came first.

So the Snowtroopers would indeed be the last of the trooper two packs meaning they haven’t done one in about half a decade. Hard to believe those came out that long ago already.

No but they had a Deluxe and Standard and a lot of the promotional photos had multiples of them together so that might be where your brain got there from.

There’s a lot of engineering that goes into something unique like that, I agree. People here might see that but it’s not just us that buys these.

I can understand the point about it appearing basic because it’s technically not a lot of plastic in the box total. And you don’t get the layers of plastic, fabric, vinyl, and other materials you get with a regular Hot Toys figure.

Some people out there might see it as really insubstantial sliver of plastic, making it even harder to justify buying if it were the new $230 trooper price. $190 has enough of a “that’s not as bad as I thought” that also makes it easier for people to buy multiple which is good for business.

I just meant basic because aside from the unique body of the Battle Droid it doesn’t have a lot going on. Paint is pretty basic, no cloth material to deal with. Plus the mould can be used for future variants again and again. Probably factors into it being a lower priced figure.

What variant? Only variant I can think of is Venomized Battle Droid and it certainly will require new molds.

There are different color variants. The Naboo ones are different than the Geonosis ones. Also they’ve got different colors to represent different rankings. Depends how deep Hot Toys wants to go with variants.

It’s not even accurate to AOTC and ROTS, it’s the Mandalorian version. Which is a lesser design.

I'd take any SBD design at this point.
Preference to AOTC, but Mando would be great as well. ROTS were kinda slim from what I remember. I prefer them to be chonky.

It’s not even accurate to AOTC and ROTS, it’s the Mandalorian version. Which is a lesser design.

Yeah, it was quite a weird move to rethink the SBD design. Guess it has a lot to do with the newer folks not able to reproduce the costumes from the OT. Like the new Tuskens, or stormtroopers. They just don’t quite look like their OT design. Not many notice the differences though.

Upon looking into some behind the scenes stuff, I found a AOTC featurette. Early design of the SBD had a metallic tube hanging from the groin area. First noticed when they created moving 3d models. But droids gotta reproduce somehow, right?
