Agreed. They simply revised it and made it more screen accurate to the film design (overdid it with certain details) vs the original Legacy Effects animatronic – they probably had several and referenced this one more specifically:

And updated it to better reflect what we end up seeing in the film and other promotional material where the color is more black, less blue on the shoulder ridges, and more texture. We have now seen it’s wet looking based on the Secret Base footage.

Lots of figure design changes – AND branding details – can occur during the initial prototype phase.

People are also forgetting that the initial Chewbacca shown at ACGHK had a different base as well and it also looked a bit shoddy with no neck. By the time it was officially announced, it had been tweaked and updated. Same goes for T2 T-800 (BD): when initially shown at ACGHK, they had displayed the original DX13, and people expected to receive a straight reissue, but it turned out to be updated with an all new sculpt and other features, etc.

Same thing has happened with the Romulus “Scorched” alien.

The way I look at it is even if it’s not the ideal Xenomorph I want it might be the only one we get for quite a while. The price is right so I’m going to get it.

Well HT has lots of time at least to improve and finalize the design for mp. Lets hope they do something smart with the jaw.

It most likely will be the only one. As much as I liked Romulus, Hot Toys loves to make “flavor of the week” stuff as opposed to revisiting older licenses, which would’ve been preferred if it was a Big Chap 2.0. I don’t see them doing that now cause it would “cannibalize” the Scorched Xeno sales, but honestly who knows, Hot Toys works in mysterious ways. Like when they announced the ‘89 Keaton Batman after Flash Keaton.

Well, you never know. Hot Toys has been dipping into older franchises again. Two figures from T2 plus Batman and Batmissile from Batman Returns. Still some other stuff rumored as well. Sort of think they had a fire lit under them recently from competition.

Sure, but every licensor is different. The Alien IP is owned by Disney and they might prefer to only have Romulus branded merch right now, especially given the Xeno design is quite “similar”. Note, how they’re probably going to end up doing a Jungle Pred but that’s okay since it’s very different to the Prey Feral Pred. I think both Hot Toys and Disney (especially Sideshow) know that the Scorched figure sales would be cannibalized if there was a Big Chap release.

The Batmissile isn’t competing against anything else and I think it’s safe to say they’re aware it won’t sell as much or over the intact Batmobile.

Idk, what I’m saying is that it’s a very case-by-case basis. And this is just based on how I see it lol. If a Big Chap 2.0 happens though, I’d be ecstatic to see it, that’s a holy grail wishlist figure of mine.

Exactly my thoughts here. If they announce a big chap and or aliens figures such as Ripley it would eat into this. My opinion is if this sells well they will go back into the franchise. One of those if we support this more will come and I want a xeno so pre ordered

I get what you’re saying. I’m just saying Hot Toys has been a bit unpredictable lately. They probably won’t do a Big Chap right away but could happen at some point. I don’t see why Disney would care. It’s another cash cow for them to milk..

It's been a long time since I've ordered from them but the word from ScoutingForToys sounds good:

Another solid choice for UK retailers is The Good, The Bad and The Robots if you decide not to go with Kapow.
TGTBTR get their figures fairly quickly in my experience. Faster than other UK retailers I've used.

Lee's pretty active in his Facebook group giving updates and such, and he's also a supplier to the stars... well, Keith Lemon (Leigh Francis) at least.

Yeah I’m tired of seeing people speculate. It’s pretty simple, all they did was revise it for official announcement. If you preferred the early look proto, I’m sorry but they made it more in line with what we see in the film, which was the right move.

I also don’t understand why people think the early proto wasn’t “Scorched”. It literally had the same scar that made it “scorched”.

I got the invoice for Baylan Skoll only a few weeks after Hong Kong release. Much faster than any other UK retailers have been on my past orders. I actually cancelled that order when the invoice arrived though so I can't say how quick delivery would have been after receiving invoice.

Lee is trustworthy at least in my experience. Probably had 10 figures from him and have 4 pre orders. Not sure where he sources from but it isnt sideshow as no shippers. Similar timeframes to other UK stores from point of release. Always well packed too, never had any damage even with the scout trooper and bike. Plus always replies to messages and as others have said he sells to Keith Lemon and Paddy McGuinness
