I've always hated the yellow costume, I get that it's a big deal but damn that is an eye sore.

It's only a "big deal" in terms of comic book history and it being the original costume in the comics, but I think most people understand that it doesn't represent the best look of the character over all as the red outfit became the most iconic over the long hull.

Yep, you pretty much hit the nail on the head. I liked the Black suit too when he lead the hand.
