I know its not as great as many of the Indy customs here, but I finally got around to doing some fixes to mine. Painted the head, hat and jacket.

Looks great to me. I like how the jacket hangs, it looks even better when you unpick the stitches holding the collar tips down.

CHEERS!

both customs look great!
i need to look at repainting my indy head as im still having problems with it going shiny. i've bought another figure so looking forward to that arriving so i can customize that one up too and see if i get better results witha repaint

What do you strip the paint with? Vinyl is porous, so, even though the head may be dry to the touch, there may still be some residual stripper still soaked into the sculpt. This may be causing the paint to dry shiny.

When I've stripped a sculpt, I coat it with Oxy spot cream. This will dry out the sculpt and soak up any residual stripper. I leave it overnight and scrub it off with soapy water and a toothbrush. Dry the head thoroughly and, fingers crossed, your paint will dry matt again when you paint the head.

CHEERS!

PS (Pastel fixative will also dry shiny if you spray it too close.)

Cheers for the advice, i only had yhe problrm with 2 ss indy heads with hat, all others have been fine. I used white spirit to scrub the paint off as best i could, leaving the sculpt to dry out. The paint dries matt but after a few weeks starts to shine. Ive tried stripping paint again and repainting to rule out paints not being stirrrd properly but im having the same result. Spraying with matt varnish after works for a while but evrntually it still shines up. Oxy cream sounds like a good idea

I did try nail polish remover as thats the only form of aceyone i can get holf of but it didnt do anything to the paint

Which brand of paints do you use? I use Vallejo, their matt flesh is from their Panzer Series which does sometimes dry shiny. It depends how much you shake the bottle.

See how you get on with the Oxy idea

CHEERS!

I use tamiya paints with a matt finish, i used to shake the bottle but was advised to stir instead, other heads frm sideshow and hot toys & customs have painted up nicely, even the hatless indy frm the same figure. Il be interestd to see if i have the same problen on my next head

I'd switch to Vallejo, I've never quite got on with Tamiya paints in the past.

CHEERS!

They finish nicely and thin with water. Tamiya are alcohol based, they're ok on some things but don't blend well with other paints if you want to make custom colours. Vallejo have a better range and blend with anything.

I do like the look of the weathering kits that Tamiya do though. They do two for skin and the colours look like manufacturer ones.

Tamiya are acrylic paints...
