Well I've decided to finally go for my Sideshow/Hot Toys Indy hodgepodge figure with my new Hot Toys muscle body. Probably echoing the thoughts of many about two years too late , but it really is amazing just switching over to a Hot Toys body. Looking at how the original Sideshow release looked without modification, it's incredible how far we've come in just a few years and how the Sideshow body was what was expected and accepted.
Drilled and got the shoes switched over, spent this evening modifying the Sideshow gloved hands so they can work with the new body. I've carved up the head so it will fit...just need to repaint it and get it on the peg. After that, I'll be pretty darn happy with the figure. I might slowly switch over to Hot Toys/mfisher apparel and accessories, but I'm really impressed with him at this point and I've never been, and my wallet thanks me, too much of a stickler for nitpicking all the details to make a perfectly accurate movie specific Indy. I can set him on the shelf and he screams Indy to me, and that makes me happy.
Only other thing I am thinking about is possibly popping off the muscle arms and switching with the standard True Type arms, to help the shirt and jacket fit a little better and improve articulation. I've seen a couple other people do that, hopefully it's not too much of a chore for a newcomer customizer like me.
Ahh, but it's nice...what, three years later?...to have a 12" Indy that I'm really pleased with.
