Great work Fiend, the beard looks very natural.

Thank you. :)

Does look fantastic! Great work! Adding more beard always seems to help.

What does that mean?

See below.

Very nice Fiend, your mods blend seamlessly with the HT sculpt and definitely take it up a notch. :clap

My guess would be heating the sculpt and squeezing it from the sides to thin/elongate the face?

Yup, That's what I did. Although I wasn't able to thin it out as much as Rory got his.

Looking good Fiend!

Thanks, man. You probably have the best DX05 so that means a lot. This is my first attempt at adding paint to a high end figure. I'm fairly happy with the results.

Well, let's see it then, siquisiri! :impatient:

:lecture Yeah, let see it!

Here it is. I still want to "dirty" him up and add some facial wounds, and pick up one Spensers coats.. But hes a good base, hope you guys like him...

You can dilute the acrylic varnish with a bit of water, that way you won't get an Indy that looks covered in vaseline.

I did mine that way and it's more subtle, but def there.

That exactly what i did. Forgot that part lol. Just water it down and add light layers. That way you can sweat up some spots more than others.

If someone could give me some decent tips on how to give him a little red to his complexion would be great. Something a little more detail than just " Oh just slap some watered down red on him". Ive never done anything like that before.

I may pick up another sculpt if I can find it on the cheap. I have some other ideas.

I added some red to my TOD custom Indy's face just by lightly dry brushing some red paint suttly on the areas of his face where I wanted it.

No water huh. Ok, I might give it a go.

:cuckoo: Looks like Ford to me. The facial hair really brings it out.

Erm, thanks. It's a little closer but no cigar.

I thinned the face out a great deal too since my last pics.

Drybrushing is the answer but not with paint. Use chalk based pastels just make sure they aren't oil based. I add much of my detailing to bring out the sculpt this way. Paint your sculpt as you normally would, give it a quick spray of dull coat and let it dry. Then go back and add the pastel Drybrushing technique. With it sealed if you mess up you can wash most of the pastel off. When you get it where you want it spray seal it again.

That's an interesting method. I might try that myself. The only thing I will argue is the washing off part. Using Acrylic paints to dry brush or what have you will also come off with water if you do not like the result. However it sounds like your way would be easier so I might give that a try. What kind of chalk pastels do you use?

I used pastels to add chesthair etc. Work pretty good.

Best,

Robert

Thanks for the tips. I'm still getting the hang of painting with acrylics though. Your way doesn't sound too drastic though. What pastels do you use?

May I ask what pastels you use? The brand?

Heck if i know. Have had them for at least 18 years. Never used them up until now. I used sandpaper to scrape of tiny bits. I aplied it using a small brush. When i was happy with it, i added the varnish.

Best,

Robert
