I can answer for Hector on that one! The jacket has an application of leather dressing, in particular 'Pecards Leather Dressing'. I did it on my Kato jacket as I thought the same as you, like suede when new. A thin application of the dressing and it instantly looks like worn leather - it is a permanent change though.

hi again! I am planning to do the dressing soon. Any special tips to do it? Weathering needs to be done before using the dressing? or can it be done afterwards?

Any help is welcome.

Just curious as to why they seem to only recast MJ Chois heads? Seems like a reoccurring process of a while after forum release there is a recast factory release?

They don't just recast MJ Choi's heads, they also recast iminime heads. I have only circumstantial evidence, but if you recall, the payment instructions for the MJ Choi heads came from the iminime payment address. Also, the members that started the MJ Choi threads, are pretty close with Denny/iminime, so there's a few connections that link MJ to iminime. So, I'm pretty sure iminime's old production facility was the source the the "leak", if you will. There haven't been many of the newer iminime heads recasted so I think Denny found a new caster who understands the need for security.

I bought my MJ Choi head with the assumption that it'd be recast, I felt it was worth supporting because it looked to be a good sculpt. So, you can imagine my disappointment when I got it in hand to see how over-sized it was with the tiny hat.

I remember seeing people's photos first start rolling in, and I was like "Jeez, I hope it's just the photos, it must look better in hand." That's always BS, I roll my eyes when I read that. It never looks better in hand. I've been doing this for damn near 20 years now, it always looks like it does in photos. Some people take crap photos, but when you look at enough of them, you get a pretty good sense of it. If a figure doesn't photograph well, it's not the photograph, it's the figure.

I tried dipping my toes in the custom game with this Indy stuff, now I have $300 worth of resin heads and a $250 tiny doll suit in a box in my closet that I'm (probably) never going to use. At a certain point you realize it's not worth throwing good money after bad. $200 paint jobs aren't going to make a $120 head smaller.

Sounds like the same issue Scaletta had: the caster sold the Judge Dredd molds to Asmus without permission.

From what you're saying, you bought this head when it was previously recast, and not recently from Kit?

The tiny hat is a bonus. I'm looking forward to that for the SS TOD.

Great post buddy!

Is this the head? With what looks like the DX05 fedora.

I bought the head from MJ during the initial run. The point I was making was that I sent payment knowing it would be recast eventually.

Few things to add to that, MJ sculpted accessories and the dog for the Road Warrior figure, and Iminime did the paintwork on MJ's Indy sculpt.

. . . , and Iminime did the paintwork on MJ's Indy sculpt.

(I wish there was an emoticon for a bemused smirk and eyeroll) . . . I didn't know that. I had assumed MJ was just a pseudonym for iminime anyways. Like an Alan Smithee, or something like that. It was funny because I recall at the time, the heads were so expensive because "MJ" was painting them himself. Honestly, the further we go along, the more I feel like an ***** for paying for that sculpt.

That first pic is way overlighted..

How about one that's even more over lit? :lol

Jarrod Trigger I still used the hot toys hat

The sculpt appears to be no wider than the DX.

If it is then it looks a lot better than I thought it might, heck, I might even consider it.

I don't know who else is selling them (if anyone) but Kit sold out on Ebay and has also removed the listing from his site.

I think that was known... at the beginning of the thread Marfmaster wrote the paintwork was being done by others 'who you will be familiar with' (or something like that). People assumed it was Iminime because of their previous associations and the style of the paintwork.

Well this does the trick :rolleyes2
This one's huge but good. :lol

Hi Kuat of Kuat
Thank you for your compliments! I am very flattered that you think that this is the best TOD Indy EVER!
Yes I am the so called "artist" of this piece. I know that does not live up to your quality, but hey I am an amateur collector. I thought it was a fun job to do. Why do you have to dump it like this??!! I dont understand. It is not a professional job I know that, but at least I gave it try.
But I guess that you´re just some white trash sitting in your trailor park, producing low quality meth, just to afford some collectibles..... It is really sad that you had to represent it like this. Why couldn´t you just write me a personal message on ebay and give me your opinion there? My seller name is : bugmansmountainrangers . But instead you are the Comedian here on SS freaks. Congrats mate :clap

No it is still for sale Kuat... I can give you a special well-fare price. Just because it is you. And your meth-lab is empty....:lol

To be fair, when you put your art "out there" you leave yourself open to criticism.
