By mod, I'm assuming make it smaller?

I would imagine that would just entail a sharp objects and whittling down the areas of the plastic (shoulders and arms?) That you want thinner.

Banner bodies are more expensive and think if I was going to do that I would use the cheaper substitute that I listed a page or two back.

On the Banner body, I just used thinner arms/shoulders from a different body and switched them out.

My indy custom is ongoing. Spent last night customising a dx05 jacket and was surprised how well it came out. Cut the lining out of the jacket and used acryllic dry brushing to add in wear. Then used dullcote on top. Worked well. May exaggerate the weathering a little more yet.

Inigou v1 head sculpt painted, but hat still to do. The headsculpt is a little stretched out but is the best I have. Hopefully can get hold of the v2 at some point.

Narrow shoulder body on its way from China.....may take a while unfortunately.
Mfisher holster/ belt on its way from the USA.

So, that leaves me with the rest of his outfit to sort.
I have spare dx05 and sideshow TOD trousers. I like the TOD colour better, but the torn knee blows it. So dx05 trousers I guess.

As for the shirt.......the TOD shirt is the nicer colour and has better scale buttons. Considering trying to get another one to use here. But, I do find the collars to be a bit large. I have a dx05 spare shirt but it's overly yellow and the buttons are oversized, though the material works better.
What does everyone think is the best in the absence of the custom clothes I can't get at this point?

As for the bag. Well, I have the old sideshow bag which is green with a light brown leather strap and I have the brown dx05 bag. Is one more screen accurate in colour?

Finally shoes. I have spare sideshow shoes that I intended to repaint. These look okay to me though I appreciate the higher quality of the hot toys shoes. Maybe something for me to upgrade later on.

Will post some pictures when things progress a bit more. Will be interesting to stand the finished figure next to my stock dx05 to compare.

Personally, I would go this route:

Trousers - the best stock trousers, in my opinion, are the SS KOTCS trousers. Of your two options, I also prefer the colour of the SS ToD trousers, but the torn knee is an issue! Could you not sew the rip shut? It would still notice close-up, but from normal viewing distances, probably not. And you could also add some weathering to the knees to help disguise the stitching anyway.

Shirt - DX05. It is a little yellow, but with the jacket on, you don't see much of it anyway. And the collars are a better cut than the SS ToD shirt. You could always cut the buttons off the DX05 shirt, as you wouldn't really notice them at normal viewing distances anyway.

Satchel - I would definitely go with the DX05 bag over the SS one. I think the Sideshow one is too green. Personally, I think the best custom combination is a DiD John Coleman gas mask bag with a custom leather strap (MFisher, preferably). That's what I have on my Raiders Indy.

Shoes - I like the DX05 boots, particularly when they've been weathered nicely, but some say that they are a little clunky and over-scaled, and prefer the SS options. In which case, I would go for the SS ToD shoes. Or, you can head over to the Interest? section and get your name on the list for some Sean Dabbs sculpted shoes: https://www.sideshowcollectors.com/...ds/181742-sean-dabbs-indiana-jones-boots.html

Here are my HT DX05 boots, weathered by me:

Great information as always Timemeddler, thanks so much.

My only thought on the dx05 shirt was to remove the buttons and see if I could replace them with something similar to the buttons on the TOD shirt. Just need to source something.

I'm sure I could come up with a repair method on the TOD trousers, will have a try later I think.

The shoes look good.....think I'll put my name down on the Sean Dabbs list.

I made my Indy satchel from a John Coleman bag, I made some rings and then used the SSC strap. Pic was on PB and I can't be bothered to make a new Indy album now. As a figure I'm done with him now. I do like to see what others have done though.

PB = Photobucket

They used to let you post pics on forums that you had uploaded to their site for free. Now they want to charge you to do that. Many people have left them, including me. Any pics I had on this thread and elsewhere on the board are all gone because I deleted my account with them. I use a different site for my pics now but will only upload new stuff there.

.....sorry for the messy posts. Just trying to work the image hosting out. Have sorted it now. Thanks!

.....right. here we go.
So, my custom indy is still very much a work in progress but thought I'd show some "development " shots.

First up, I am weathering a DX05 jacket.

I have also customised a dx05 shirt. Did some work on the collars. Then removed every oversized button and replaced them. The replacement buttons are the heads of pins that I cut off using pliers, glued in place, painted and varnished. Pleased with the result.

Things left to do :

- MFISHER holster and belt on its way.
- full re-paint and weathering of the shoes. These are a set of stock sideshow boots (not sure which indy they are originally from)
- a little more work on the jacket and it's collars.
- full body replacement also on the way. This is currently using my TOD indy body.
- get hold of a custom whip.
- Possibly add some more dirt to the bottom of his trousers.

Cheers!
Simon.

Simon, it's AMAZING! I love the look of the DX05 jacket! It hangs well with the lining removed and the weathering looks so natural! Also your paint work on the head sculpt is excellent. Can't wait to see it finished!
