Interesting. These are the first full figures I've had from Qorange/Qotoys. The previous Gebirgsjager and Jager sets didn't have sculpts or bodies.

Overall the quality is very good.

I finished the first one using one of CraftOne's more musular bodies and Kaustic Plastik's Celt sculpt, as I wanted to make use of the big beard. I put this one in Redman Josey Wales trousers as I used the blue pair for Jonah Hex.

The sculpt is best viewed from the front due to the Mohican hairstyle...

When the thought popped into my head last night to use up some of the spares for Jonah I'd forgotten that the Texan's coat was longer than the sack coat on the Union Iowa figure. The sack coat would've been the perfect length for the classic comic book look:

I've left him as a Civil War era character instead, with the belt and holster from Redman's Josey Wales, and Sideshow Josey's oversized Colt Army.

The remainder of that BBK Jonah Hex got Redman's Josey sculpt with its Confederate cavalry hat.

Looking at my list of figures I have a note next to Qorange that according to Kit they're the same company as Toys City. So Brownart/Qorange/Toys City?

Hey everyone, I received my Iowa and Texas figures from Kit a few days ago and will offer my impressions of both here. Asta covered them really well so I'll try not to be too redundant.

I agree with Asta the quality is very good, outside of the 2 head sculpts (more on that soon). These are my first Civil War figures, and first Qorange products - and I'm glad I took the plunge. My idea was to see how these were and, if they were satisfactory, maybe try to "army build" with 4-5 figures plus some Photoshopping to make it look like a full company marching or arrayed for battle. Luckily, I love the look of these figures so I may try that after all.

Ok, the head sculpts. As many have said, the Union shouting sculpt is off-putting and just awful. I like Steph Curry as much as the next Knicks fan who regrets missing out on him in 2009, but this is inappropriate and ridiculous. I had hopes Qorange would reconsider after all the negative commentary on the prototype, and am disappointed they seemed not to care. Maybe they got a large quantity of these cheap from some factory that had leftovers from a Curry figure. Anyway, this sculpt went right back in the box and I hope to sell it to a blind Warriors fan.

Does this look like a man screaming in the heat of battle? I don't see it at all. An angry gritted-teeth head sculpt would have been welcome, but this is not.

The Confederate sculpt prototype was seemingly better received, but I'm not sure I'll use it. It doesn't look right at all, with weird lumps especially in the forehead and cheeks. I may be able to stand having this guy being blurred in the background where you can't make out his features, but we'll see. Again, they must've found a factory with a surplus of Van Gogh sculpts they were looking to get rid of. Here's to hoping Qorange improves their sculpt game in the future, because they have potential.

By the way, I should mention that both the Iowa and Texas figures wear the exact same white shirt, suspenders, and blue pants, and carry the same Springfield rifles. The shoes are pretty much identical except for the lace colors.

So, moving past the head sculpts, I'd like to introduce my replacements for Mr. Curry and Mr. Van Gogh: Confederate Sergeant Axelrod and Union Sergeant Borden. These sculpts were an extra Facepool Richard Winters I had (from the deluxe set) and a Terminator Salvation John Connor (not sure if this was Hot Toys brand or 3rd party). Both had some tweaking done to fit the body Qorange used - neither DiD nor Facepool neck connectors will fit. Also, note that the Union kepi is very small and won't fit on the Winters sculpt, though the Confederate kepi will. It's tight, as is the Union kepi on the Connor sculpt.

Hopefully my posts have added to the conversation around these new Qorange figures, and here's to hoping they continue with this theme (and improve their headsculpts)!

I've been gradually turning one of the BBK Jonah Hex figures into a more Civil War period cavalry Lieutenant.

Added an eyepatch to Redman's Josey Wales sculpt, and a pair of Asmus' The Hateful 8 Major Warren gauntlets.

The other day I was looking at my Star Ace Scars of Dracula brandishing his sabre, and realised that the handguard was similar to a US Model 1860 Light Cavalry Saber (aka M1862).

So he has a sabre, but no scabbard.

Thanks for checking out my post! And I would be all in on some officers - it'd be great to have someone leading the marching company I hope to put together. Your cavalry lieutenant would be even more awesome on a horse, with the infantry marching alongside.

I bought the Confederate one, first articulated figure I got since I got Stoney Smith for Christmas as a kid, I was trying to put his jacket on and broke his hands, part of the wrist stayed in the arms but the rod sticking in the hand broke, I have ordered some new wrist, is there a good 1/6 figure site that talks about repairing these things. I dont know much about 1/6 figures but have read a lot about the War Between The States and I think this is just a generic Southern figure not a specific 4th Texas.

The average height of soldiers in the Civil War was 5 ft. 8 in. and 143 lbs. Which of the figures would correspond the closest? I know height will be wrong but then lithe figures not muscled up hero types

The old DML/Dragon bodies are a good start, if you can find any.
