Hey fellas,
Wondering if any of you lads can help me find something. Im looking for some 1/6 rivets or snap like things.Like the ones that would go on a leather jacket collar, etc. Basically, what I need is tiny little metallic circles. Any thoughts, ideas, clues??

What you want are called hot fix nail heads (or nailheads).

They can be found many different places, and come in a dizzying number of sizes. Remember the advice I gave you about the buckles from Rio Rondo? :)

Yeah, I remember...I'm thinkin thats a clue. Im gonna stroll over to their site and check just to be sure...

Sorry, didn't mean to confuse you. I don't think Rio Rondo sells hot fix products.

What I meant was, you might want to buy multiple sizes until you figure out what works best. Nailheads come in sizes from 1.5 mm up to 7 mm. I have found that the 1.5 mm up to 3mm work for 1/6 scale work. For rivets on a jacket, I would say the 1.5 mm are probably what you want.

I have found the best place to shop for nailheads is on ebay. You can search by color, and the size 1.5 mm and 2 mm are readily available there.

What I did was find someone selling them on ebay who had all the colors and sizes I wanted. I sent them an email asking if they would sell me a sampler pack with multiple sizes of the color I wanted. A seller agreed and I got about 20 nailheads of various sizes for .50 cents shipping included.

Oh, ok, thanks man. Im looking online right now, hopin I can find a craft store, etc, thats nearby where I can look at their selection in-person, and then go from there.

Also, if you are planning on doing a lot of work with them, you might want to invest in the tool to set them. They have a heat sensitive glue backing that melts and sticks them to the fabric. You can use an iron, but they make several little wands that have a special tip that helps grab and melt the glue. They are so dang tiny it can be a chore to get them in place long enough to put a full size iron down on them.

Thanks for the tips man, I appreciate it. Im probably gonna check Michaels in the next couple days.

Yeah, exactly that kind of thing. Im also lookin for slightly smaller ones to use on belts, holsters, etc.
