True. No retailer has control over the QC issues of any products they sell unless they are directly responsible for the manufacturing of that product. I guess I look at it differently though. OSK is a retailer same as Lowe’s, Wal-Mart or Sideshow. They buy wholesale and mark it up for resale. They ultimately bear the responsibility of the products they sell and the relationship they have with their wholesalers.

If I buy a Dewalt drill at Lowe’s or a Hot Toys figure from Sideshow and it’s defective I expect Lowe’s or Sideshow to have already worked out an arrangement that I either get a full refund or a replacement. Anyone buying from a retail shop should never consider it a gamble as to whether or not they’ll be stuck with a broken or defective product.

That being said OSK did tell me that SSR will be providing them with replacement sculpts soon however that was 5 weeks ago and I hadn’t heard anything from them. I’m still hopeful I’ll get a new sculpt but we’ll see.
While true to your overall comparison, it's also a little different since these are third party figures. It would be like if Lowe's was selling black market lawnmowers in the back while accepting cash only. You kind of buy at your own risk. It's a finicky thing when it comes to third party because you do have great companies out there like SooSooToys and LimToys, who are pretty big now and active within the community. For this figure though, you're dealing with SSR, a random Hong Kong based company that just pushed this figure out of no where with no history at all. I wouldn't put it too much on OSK for this. Wouldn't be surprised if SSR told OSK that they will do replacements but then just didn't follow up on it. I hope it gets sorted out though. I was interested in getting this but the QC issues put me off.

We‘ll have to agree to disagree on this one then. 😁

I gotta agree with you on this. I buy a lot of 3rd Party Transformers and the legit places I buy from (which would be the equivalent of OSK, GiantToy, TNS etc) always offer replacements, even if they have to break down one of their own stock to get it to you. There are even some figures they'll list with "no aftersales service will be provided" but they still come through if you ask. And if they can't get you a replacement for some reason, they'll offer you some type of store credit.

Still nothing from One Sixth Corner other than a promise over two months ago that replacement sculpts are being sent from SSR. At this point I don’t expect one and OSC already said they won’t be sending me any type of a refund.

Anybody here have a lead for a replacement sculpt besides Toy Anxiety?

Taking hot toys from sideshow as example, sideshow getting huge discount from hot toys, that's why they can provide excellent after sales service, I am sure they are ready to break down figure for sending replacements

For people who buy hot toys from hong kong (secret base 1st batch/2nd batch), you are at your own risk, hot toys only provide 14 days warranty for secret base order

We get hot toys from China, our wholesale cost is even higher than secret base retail price, but at least we can provide some sort of after sales service, it's slow, sometimes we need to return for exchange but at least we can request for after sales service after months

Now come back to 3rd party figures, in general these companies request us to return damage/defect parts for exchange, somehow it could reduce problems for them, they knew it's not easy to return from overseas. We have to treat them lightly, providing picture/ evidence to proof there's quality issue with their product. For some brands it's taking months to chase after replacements.

That being said, we understand the responsibility to keep every transaction smooth, it's not customer's fault by receiving defect figures. We are thankful for people who understand our difficulty, especially when there's minor issue with figure, for example: parts fall off because lack of glues, 3rd party manufacturer will say "come on, let the guy glue it back, it's easy"

We always try our best but we can't guarantee to resolve all cases. SSR made mistake on the packaging that cause the damage to the head sculpt during transportation, he's a good guy and he understand it's their responsibility to respond on this matter, so they offer us replacement sculpts, although it takes sometime to produce a new batch

The packaging had nothing to do with the damage. It was obviously damaged prior to being packaged then boxed and shipped as is to the customer. That’s my main problem. It’s not as if there were minor scuff marks due to the pieces rubbing on the clam shell. The cowl sculpt had ears broken off and it was clearly damaged prior to shipping as there were no broken bits in the box and no way the type of damage done could have happened in transit. SSR packaged it perfectly but they packaged damaged product and that’s a definite nono.

it was damaged due to the packaging, the head sculpt is resin made which is fragile, the bandage sculpt connected to the body, while the body moving within the box during transportation, the sharp ear being scratched by the foam while it's mounted tension with body. 99% complaint on the bandage sculpt because it's connected to the body, while the other sculpt is fine.

We had long discussion with SSR, they confirmed it after several investigation

My bandaged sculpt was fine. The regular sculpt had one completely broken off ear which was no where to be found in the box and one ear that had a bent over tip.
Sorry to disagree but that type of damage doesn’t happen from being packaged in a soft foam container.
Regardless, I’m left with a messed up $250 figure and a 3 month old promise of a replacement sculpt.

hope you will get the replacement soon

This figure is my biggest actionfigure regret of 2021. Absolute trash, quality terrible, damaged head sculpts and just all around terrible waste of $250. Lesson learnt for me, never tried 3rd party, Hush tempted me as I love that work so much. This figure doesn't even come close to doing Hush justice.

Don’t let SSR turn you off of all 3rd party figures. Lots of good offerings out there. Especially from SooSoo Toys.

Selling mine with an unpainted Hush Batman sculpt from Waruna. Pm me if anyone wants it.

Over four months and still no replacement sculpt from SSR and no way to get any type of refund either from them or the retailer I purchased it from.

As far as I’m concerned it’s buyer beware for anything SSR offers from here on out. It’s a shame too because I like the look of the figure and would’ve snagged almost anything based on Kingdom Come or other offerings from Alex Ross‘ and Jim Lee DC art. But at the prices they’re charging I just don’t think it’s worth the risk.

I bought from eBay. The bandaged head has chipped off the ear. Can anyone guide to contacting SSR for a replacement head? I’ve been searching and I can’t seem to find any info. Much appreciated
