Here is my repainted Taito R2. Still need to sand down the seams on the dome but pretty cool I think.

Why did you repaint it? The original paint looked fine..
I think the details on your repaint are a bit too thick, but that's me.

The main thing i always like to repaint on white droids, is the white. Mainly cus of the slight translucency of the plastic - when white is painted solidly over (spraycan or airbrush) it looks so much better, and accepts weathering more realistically.

I wanted to distress it a bit and repaint the dark navy blue to a metallic blue. Still needs some work.

Try a pot of games workshop wash, like gryphonne sepia or badab black, and try and mimic stains with it rather than thinking of it as paint. Or if you wanna be more ambitious, respray the whole thing with white primer, then mask off areas and respray metallic blue parts, silver dome etc. might be abit tedious, then u can scratch the paint with sandpaper and smudge it with chalk pastels

If you respray it, those thick dark lines around the panel lines will then become pre shading and look pretty effective.

Great bump, given the release of Luke. I just finished repainting mine (mine's the cooler, not the clock, so I don't have the 3rd leg-no biggy). He's all Tatooined up though since my focus is ANH.

It's like a drink warmer or something. The dome flips up and a can fits inside. It came with a USB cord, which I cut off. It's the best 1/6 scale R2, same size as the alarm clock. There's one on the 'bay now, but I paid $30 for mine.

So it's a 1/6? Weird, seems to be too small for drinks. But anyway, if it fits - it fits
I have many R2, starting with the tiny hasbro battlers to the 15" interactive, so any R2 is a winner with me.

Just to share some info, there a new R2 (Taito I guess) in the market too. This droid- R2D2 action alarm clock come with fixed centre leg, and with some moive sentences. I think it lights up also.

It is a full 7 inches tall and fully articulated including third retractable leg.

Perfect scale for R2. Much taller and wider than hasbro. Looks great in this shot too.

It's not the projector one. Just the clock that's hidden behind a small panel.

All these R2's are different sizes. You need to check the cm and do the conversion. I think the correct R2 (clock) is 18 cm.

Looks like they tweaked the Medicom R2 mold, which is a mold i don't care for.
