thats a beautiful shot jedibear, looks like the troop is cought in a blizzard with that background. awesome!

Your custom boots look great though - were those redo's of the Hasbro ones or straps glued over regular boots? And are those gloves SSC ones on your custom or did you make those?

Maybe it's just the pic, but the hasbro armor looks smaller than or differently shaped somehow to the SSC - the stomach/big belt armor part looks quite different, as does the cod piece. And the chest armor seems wider and flatter on the SSC.

The hasbro goggles are pretty off though (more so than the SSC) - interested to see how you unite the look of your squad.

Thanks man. The boots on my custom I made from scratch. I used strips of latex gloves and elastic bands to build the boot. Those are SSC gloves on my custom. The SSC armor is much bigger(and better) than the Hasbro armor.

I have another helmet and body coat coming from TA for my custom. Once I am done weathering/modding all three of my troopers, I think they will match up pretty good together. A little variety is a good thing. :)

JediBear, looking forward to seeing your outdoor shots!!

Firstly guys - I love the Snowtroopers. :lecture

I'm not trying to be negative - just making observations; but firstly, do none of you think the crown of the headgear is too high above the eyes & a tad bulbous? It's the first thing I see. The eye lenses look ok depending on the pics, as with the face shield. The hands do look big in the pics too.

Secondly; the belt & crotch armour - it's either majorly unfutzed on the ones shown in here so far, or that's actually how it sits on the figure & can't really be realigned - what's the story with that? The ball guard is protecting the figure's intestines in most of those pics, & the belt is up under the chest plate. :lol

Regarding the crown, I thought the same waybased on the first batch of pics, but in others it looks fine. I'm really picky about that sort of thing, too.

The hands are too large, as with Boba Fett, but I think that it's something I can live with. The lenses don't concern me, since the original suits (as with the stormtroopers) were all over the place in terms of size and shape.

As for the midsection, well, I guess I'll find out when he arrives.

Dammit i caved and ordered 1 as he does look so much better in the in-hand pics you guys have been posting compared to the SS pics.

I noticed in looking at reference pics for a C-3PO custom I've been working on that the camera lens affects helmet curvature a lot. I lined up about four different photos of 3PO and the curve of his head looked noticeably different from pic to pic. In ref pics of the snowtrooper, I've noticed the same thing - some look quite vertical, others look like a smoother, lower curve. Personally, I think the SSC dome (like SSC Boba Fett) is too vertical just judging by the pics, but I'll see in-hand soon.

Here's two ref pics (Magic of Myth type exhibit) where the SSC curve - that's SSC in the middle btw - looks pretty close:

If you're really wanting to get it "right" I guess get a few screencaps from the movie and go with those as ref - that is "the" way we all really remember them, and it beats any other ref pic, even of screen-used helmets.

As with most figures a certain amount of futzing is usually required. It's part of the fun of making it your own! I had no issue fixing his bunched up pants, adjusting the codpiece, Ab armor, etc. I was amazed at the time and effort that went into this design! The hands do seem a bit big, but he does work in artic climates so I'm ok with them! I'm extremely happy with this purchase!

The display posted above is from the Myth & Magic of Star Wars exhibit. Unfortunately, the people assembling the mannequins aren't always correct in their placement of pieces: the Snowtrooper being one of them.

Sideshow has the belt/waist armor on correctly. Look at this production picture.
