Re: GI Joe - Destro

That is effing hilarious! :lol

I think i'll be as old as Zsa Zsa Gabor by the Sideshow do a decent Destro, Firefly and Shipwreck.

I think Firefly's more than decent, IMO. An example that while not really faithful to the card art, it was accepted and even highly regarded by a good number of collectors and Joe fans because it's a nicely done figure.

Thanks for the pics! Did you get to talk to anyone from Sideshow about this?

I'm wondering if the wrist rockets are removable......

There were lots of pretty girls in yellow dresses with neat eye makeup working the booth but sadly when I asked about things, no one had additional info... (albeit I mostly asked about Hoth Han and Probe Droid but did ask why they didn't bring the other head for Destro).

I tried to find someone who knew more but they said all information was being given out to press outlets and they didn't have more details, like what would be in exclusive packaging vs normal, when P.O., how much etc. I went to the Star Wars Collectibles panel (I know not relevant) but they had zero info in that panel for the SW stuff so I don't think there was a whole lot of info being handed out.

The jacket material is excellent in person. Very textured and looks like reptile skin almost. And I understand there will be accessories to make an alternate look.

I have no experience of Destro except from the first GI Joe movie, but the figure looks pretty cool. And to see what the complainers actually wanted I googled him - so I guess you wish SSC did this version:

I am sorry but the jacket does not look like reptile skin to me, it looked like linty fleece of some sort, sort of like athletic wear. I would actually like the look of this head if he didn't have the eyebrow raised (a nice scowl would look cool, both brows pinched). The jacket is my other problem with him, it just doesn't scream badass. I think if they would have gone leather or armored him, even though that still may not be classically correct, he would look so freaking evilly tough that all of us would be ok with the discrepancy.

Personally, the jacket doesn't bother me as much as the undershirt does. It looks like a plain black sweater or t-shirt. Hell they could just re-use the original SSC Cobra Commander shirt and use that for the undershirt and color it black with red accents and it would look alot better imho.

Re: GI Joe - Destro

You do realize that these figures were peg warmers for years after they came out.
Not a good sign for SSC's Destro

From the bunch of Joes (er, Cobras) that are up and will be up on PO, I can only see Baroness getting sold out the soonest. I think the last recently-released Joe to sell out was Falcon (even ahead of the earlier-released Hawk and Rock N Roll).

Re: GI Joe - Destro

How come Sideshow don't do there interpretation of the Star Wars Characters? But they do the GI JOE'S. :nono

Because they do "Lucasfilm's interpretation of Star Wars characters" screen accuracy be damned. :lecture

Are you kidding? Star Wars fans were complaining about the number of holes in Hoth Luke's visor.
