I take it that was ment to be a "put down", but they are dolls :dunno

Reading further there are some real idiots. Some even saying Hot Toys is making figures for SS :lol

I can't believe that was even used as a "legitimate" reference regarding credible commentary about this figure. :lol From day one Hissyfit.com has been hating on Sideshow stuff because it's not 3 3/4" tall and come in under $10 a pop. :huh

At this point, if SS did make Greenshirts, they'd make them blue or purple or some off the wall stupid color and you all would rejoice. The ninja viper was just a simple repaint of storm shadow and the ONLY thing that made it special was that it was teal and a mailaway.

Check out what real joe fans think of this figure.. https://www.hisstank.com/gi-joe-news/conventions-9/sideshow-cobra-ninja-viper-10327/

All in all, if they changed the color to anything else it might be ok, or even slapped a Joe logo on it and called it Snake Eyes's trainee Kamakura or something..

Nah, you're way off base.

First off, I'm a "real joe fan" if there ever was one. I'm on Hisstank, Yojoe, Toy News International and the rest. And I love this figure.

Sideshow has never been about slavishly recreating the original figures exactly how they were. I'm not sure why you'd expect to see a teal ninja, when they made more contemporary changes to guys who were already pretty realistic looking, like Duke, Beach Head, and Firefly.

The other guys here are right about Hisstank. There's some cool guys on there, no doubt. Most of the regulars. I'd say at least 10-15%. But there are a ton of whiny, cheap complainers too. Guys who just got onboard the whole Joe collecting thing with the 25th line, and will raise all hell about having to pay $20 for a figure on the aftermarket. They sure as heck won't pay Sideshow prices.

Also, a lot of them seem vehemently opposed to anything that isn't 25th style, including the original RAH figures, which I really don't understand at all. I mean, full on HATE o-ring figures.

I prefer MOTUC figures, but I'm certainly not going to hate on the originals. I LOVED those as a kid, and I respect them too, as well as those who collect them.

Don't get me wrong, I like Hisstank for what it is, but using that site as a benchmark for "real fans" (a term I hate, btw) when half of them seem to have a severe hate-on for o-ring RAH figures and more than half seem to complain every time they can't get something for clearance prices. Should have used Yojoe.com or one of the other Joe sites - or better yet, a 12" Joe collector site.

The funniest thing about some of the morons over there is that they love to denigrate the 12" clothed Joe figures as dolls and then they call their more manly 3 3/4" toys "Action Figures".
Hasbro invented the term Action Figure solely for their 60's era clothed 12" GI Joes, so if any toy should be called an action figure it's the 12" clothed Joe figures.

There are some really insecure guys over there on hisstank.com. :lol

I don't see why they are like that. For years I heard it from the Vingtage 12" guys that the 3 3/4" figures were just toys and when I grew up I would grow out of them and collect the real action figures.

They are all toys, dolls and actions figures.

Actually they all have their colors of their 3/4 counterparts, with the exception of FF. Oh, and BH's pants. So, I think most would assume a Ninja Viper would be teal. I dont really care, but I would see why some people would complain about that.

Loved GI Joe since I was a kid and think the 3 3/4 figures are cool as is the SS stuff. Those guys hating the SS stuff are of the same cheap ass mind set as SW fans who don't like that line.

I just don't understand why someone would knock a figure that could have a more realistic sculpt, accessories that were removable, superior articulation, rifles with moving parts, and size great enough to give the figure real presence on a shelf. I like little action figures, so it only makes sense to me that a big action figure will be that much cooler.

Also, why would a ninja wear teal? Other than because that was the color Hasbro made it? It doesn't bother me, but it makes a lot more sense to wear olive drab and use camo blades if you're going to be undetectable in the woods.Teal is only good for hiding underwater in tropical climtes.

Except Robots, they don't qualify as dolls, it's how some toy companies get around import tariffs.

Probably the same reason that Storm Shadow wears bright white and the red ninjas wear red. Obviously ninjas in the Joe universe care little about blending in with their environment.

I think the point I made was pretty clear.

NONE OF THE SIDESHOW JOES EVER LOOKED EXACTLY LIKE THE RAH COUNTERPARTS.

So why expect Sideshow to colour a ninja in friggin' bright teal, when all along they've gone for more realistic and contemporary interpretation of GI Joe? This goes beyond colour.

And yes, to a certain extent you could make the point about Storm Shadow's white, the Red Ninja, etc - but in those cases the colours used were pretty important to the characters, whereas this, not so much. If these had been called "Teal Ninja Force Warriors" or something back in the day, maybe you'd have a point, but "Ninja Viper" is pretty generic and the fact that they are green is enough for me.

Are some of you suggesting that G I Joe figures are not 100% practical in the real world!?!?!?!?!?!

OH MY GAWD!?!?!?!

:panic: :panic: :panic: :panic: :panic:

Probably the same reason that Storm Shadow wears bright white and the red ninjas wear red. Obviously ninjas in the Joe universe care little about blending in with their environment.

Different beasts, though, as I said.

Storm Shadow's white outfit is iconic to the character, a very important and prominent character at that.

The Red Ninjas, while less prominent - as far as I know they were only depicted in the Silent Interlude issue - are literally defined by the colour of their outfits. You can't have a Red Ninja without it being, you know, red. And, as stated, while they never had a figure or anything back in the day, they did play a big part in arguably the most famous Marvel GI Joe comic made.

Teal is just a bit too "out there", even for Cobra, much more so than white or red. Remember that Ninja Viper originally came out in '92, when neon and bright colours ruled the line and RAH had really lost its way (and was on its way to cancellation soon after). I think anyone can reasonably accept the reason Sideshow went with a more subdued green - unless they're hopelessly pining for 100% accurate RAH designs, of course.

I always assumed Storm Shadow's choice of white was symbolic. Also, I never thought he was the kind of ninja who required stealth to achieve his objective, and if he did, he'd make white work to his advantage.

The red ninjas came across as a kind of infantry, and their numbers would make the need for stealth irrelevant. The color has symbolism as well. But teal? That's just the 90's color scheme coming into play. Can't think of a reason. I'd have no problem with Sideshow doing a version faithful to the original, but I'd have even less interest in it that I do this one (which is growing on me, but not a must have like the red one was).
