My wife and I didn't start watching Breaking Bad 'til after it had ended. I DVRed the AMC marathon of the series leading up to the finale. At the moment, we're 9 episodes from the end. Wanted to finish it before Saul started ... but didn't quite make it.

Next, we're thinking either Sons of Anarchy or Game of Thrones. SOA seems more in our genre. I'm not sure my wife is going to go for GOT.

IMO, if they can't get into it by the middle of the first season, they may as well not watch any more. In reality, I think it only takes 3 episodes, but I'm giving them an extra few as grace. ;)

We were into it by then ... but, I wasn't seeing 'greatest show of all time' at that point.

Well, I think it only took me the opening scene, with his pants flowing in the wind! That was so original I was instantly hooked!:lol

I never did. It's good, but AMC has better in Mad Men and The Walking Dead. As far as your next show, don't waste your time with SOA. The acting is marginal, the stories loose and the writing starts off somewhat decent for the first few seasons and then dives straight off a cliff into a pit of garbage. I watched every episode and the last two seasons were painful for the most part. Game of Thrones doesn't have a single bad episode, easily the best produced show ever to be televised, the cast is universally strong and it's superbly written.

Sorry, you're right, I messed up. Far better in the Walking Dead (and Mad Men). (Except the first half of Season 2 of the Walking Dead - but BB also had a number of throw-away episodes in the first few seasons)

I wouldn't call it the best ever, either. But, it's close enough that I can see how it's arguable. Justified and 24 take the top spots for me. Maybe Fargo and/or True Detective next, along with Breaking Bad. The Walking Dead would be in the next tier for me. Been watching a bit of The Shield lately ... it's solid. Need to go back and catch The Sopranos, too.

Never bothered with Mad Men. When the conflict is boozing, office drama and extra-marital affairs ... I'm out. Too much style, not enough action.

You've seen Deadwood, right?

its like threezero is reading my mind as to what licences they should get, so i expect them to announce they have the Justified license soon or i will be dissapointed...:wink1:

Love Justified, my only complaint is not enough Timothy Olyphant after the first season. 24 was good through most of the first season. After that I felt it went to total crap. However, some of the people behind it have, for the most part redeemed themselves with Homeland - you might want to check that one out too.

Really looking forward to the second season of Fargo - not much action in that one either though. Halt and Catch Fire (AMC like BB and MM) is awesome, but it's about office drama and some ***. ;) And computers and code. Marco Polo which I watched last month was super addictive. And still in-season, Banshee. You won't find a show with as much action and carnage. And ***. Usually in the same episode, sometimes in the same scene.

I'd be worried that Marshal Givens wouldn't be able to stand on his own. ;) But it would make another nice 2-figure series along side BB.

Justified is the best written show on TV, as far as I'm concerned (they ought to do a Better Call Saul-type spinoff with Wynn Duffy). 24 had more good seasons than bad ... and, the bad ones weren't even all that bad. They need at least one more, though. Season 9 ending wasn't a great series-ender.

I haven't seen Halt & Catch Fire. Didn't seem up my alley. Never even heard of Marco Polo.

Watched the first episode of Banshee last week. Good enough. I've heard good things from several people. I'll probably pick it back up after TWD, Justified and Saul end for the season. Too much going at once.
