You make some valid observations. The weapons and binocs are very light to the hold and touch. Perhaps the lighter material handles the printing process used for the fine detailing or maybe the engineers figured lighter accessories would put less stress on the figure when utilizing them. Or...maybe it's just cheaper. The material choice certainly isn't detracting from the appearance...they look great. My only concern with them is they seem more delicate and fragile so handling them just requires even more care. They all look really good. Finally got mine open. It's a decent figure with a couple annoyances. The body they used is good and the hands with real wraps are nice. The robes are thin which is both good and bad. I hope the pleather pouches hold up long term.
I don't remember anyone mentioning how cheap the weapons and binoculars feel when you handle them. They look decent visually but it's very light hollow cheapy feeling plastic. And lastly the damn boots. Why are these not split cut for ankle articulation, the design is perfect to hide the cut. These are like cinder blocks on his feet, just lazy and annoying.
The fabric choices look better in hand. Not perfect, but they drape and futz well enough. The hand wraps look really good and the arm wraps slide around well enough to effectively "blend" them with the hands perfectly.
The head is really well detailed and painted to excellent effect. This is one instance where the so-called "fat suit" is actually successful in bulking up the body to look good. But then we get down to the feet....and it's a face-palm WTF moment on the figure. After all of the great work rendering the costume and accessories, the effort is almost sunk by these cheesy, clunky and stiff looking boots. How did this slip by? A character that lends itself to such dynamic opportunities for posing is sabotaged by club feet. It's one of the more bizarre choices HT made here. Maybe they are correct in how they appear on the Tuskens in "The Mandalorian", but at the very least, a split-ankle design would have literally opened up the posing options. It doesn't kill the figure, but it is an odd misstep.
This is one of those figures that had some divisiveness with the prototype (seems like EVERYTHING with SW these days manages to generate some level of controversy) and I found myself a little torn by what we were seeing. It reminded me of HT's attempt with the Jawas, which to me, wasn't an entirely successful figure and I was hoping this Tatooine denizen wouldn't end up with the same result. i'm happy to say that for me, despite some minor issues, this figure looks great and came out well.
I may pick up another one down the line and do little customizing of my own. As many shots showing up in this thread show, it lends itself well to that and has the foundation to be a really cool figure.
