I just realized that I hadn’t even PO’d yet, just went to kit’s site to check and didn’t have an order in :slap

I can’t keep up with it all anymore with everything coming at us left and right. Guess it doesn’t matter now I missed the boat regardless :lol

Where'd you order from?

I live in Hong Kong, so there are plenty of retail stores that exclusively sell 1/6th figures we can order figures from. Anyways, called to check as they sent me a message they were refunding my deposit. At first i thought was it because i ordered late and the quota was filled. If so, i was gonna find another store to order it from or buy online.

They said the company decided not to proceed with production (didn't say why), so it won't be released hence we all get our deposits back.

The 'official' line?

Or VTS don't want to admit they were coerced into stopping?

So, yeah, lack of sales likely isn't the reason they've abandoned her:

Which is good news for those that want her since VTS' work may 'mysteriously' fall into the hands of another 'company'. Very likely one with a name we've never heard of before...

Asta, OneSixthKit isn’t the only store though… it most likely didn’t do well for VTS across the board. Let’s face it, there was low demand for this, as unfortunate as it is.

It makes sense it did “pretty well” for OneSixthKit given they have a following and social media presence, but other retailers/resellers? Most likely not.

I'd have thought the figure would've been popular wherever she was offered owing to the good reception the series received.

What may count against it is that it's western made, and therefore maybe more obscure to the large number of potential customers in the east, who buy Japanime figures from series they're more familiar with.

VTS would've sunk quite a bit into development, which they aren't going to get back by abandoning her. Hence I can see their Mizu returning at some point under another brand, presuming lack of sales wasn't the cause since that's such a rarity. Lots of obscure figures get released, even generic ones that don't have a hit series to promote them.

Overall, as much as this show is amazing, critically acclaimed and positively received (more so for Western market), I never got the sense it was in demand for 1/6 consumers. It was hardly talked about in the groups and at large. The YouTubers glossed over it too.

This thread is what got me to watch the show. I remember seeing a preview for it a long time ago and thought it looked interesting, but completely forgot all about it. Oh well, let’s see what happens with this one down the road.

Some of the Youtubers were raving about her when she was announced.

If it was lack of sales then I didn't help, because I didn't order her. :monkey3

Supply and demand. No one asked for this figure, figures are more expensive to make, VTS had unrealistic sales expectations for this, the sales did not meet the quota, meaning they wouldn't get any kind of profit from producing this. That's the cold, hard truth, why this is cancelled.

I did say, third parties and even official brands seriously need to start reconsidering their business strategy if they want to stay afloat, the years ahead of us won't be kind to anyone, everything will be more expensive, figures that people may have pre-ordered in the past, will now be colossal failures because collectors will be more cautious with their purchases.

My advice to VTS would be, give the people what they want, reissue Jin Sakai, people want him and are willing to pay for him.
