Supply and demand. No one asked for this figure, figures are more expensive to make, VTS had unrealistic sales expectations for this, the sales did not meet the quota, meaning they wouldn't get any kind of profit from producing this. That's the cold, hard truth, why this is cancelled.

I did say, third parties and even official brands seriously need to start reconsidering their business strategy if they want to stay afloat, the years ahead of us won't be kind to anyone, everything will be more expensive, figures that people may have pre-ordered in the past, will now be colossal failures because collectors will be more cautious with their purchases.

My advice to VTS would be, give the people what they want, reissue Jin Sakai, people want him and are willing to pay for him.
So... LIM Blue Eye Samurai when..? ;)

Space is becoming more limited, economy is in the **** and tariffs aren’t gonna help either. Everyone is being more picky with what they buy.

I enjoyed the show but the figure has no real place in my collection. I have to ask if the figure is really worth taking up a shelf space and this doesn’t make the cut. I do appreciate VTS at least trying though.

Here’s the article I read about the series. It clearly states the creators have a solid four seasons planned. We’ve only gotten to see the first of four planned and second season won’t happen until next year. If they actually do the full four there’s plenty of time between then and now for someone to pick this up where VTS left off. There’s still hope for the future.

My guess is that she’ll kill one “of her fathers” per. She’s got three left. 👍🏼

Got my cancellation email from Gundamit today. 😕
I really hope VTS tries this one again after season 2 gets released.
People need to step off the Arcane bandwagon for a bit and check out other animated stuff too. Blue Eye Samurai is 100% right up there with it imo. I actually enjoyed BES Season 1 a lot more than Arcane Season 2.
Seeing a version of Mizu with this quality get cancelled just bums me out. I wish VTS would at least make a limited release, just raise the price a little. I'd still buy it.

One Sixth Scale Man said he's been grieving all week:

One of the panel suggested Hot Toys might already be making Mizu since they're doing figures from Arcane (plus their Spider-Man animated line and now Rebels).

Howard does hate competition.

VTS have played a risky game for years, having DAM as their licensed wing while sticking two fingers up to license holders with their VTS branded figures (and those either under other names or with companies they work with).

Kit's the only reference we have to her being a good seller.

The TNS Figures Community listing shows they only had four orders through Facebook, though no telling how many through their store page, of course.

Scrolling through their FB listings, sales are down across the board for most figures. Many had no orders at all or just one. So four for Mizu was pretty good by comparison (!) The most recent biggest seller was Mars Toys' '66 Alfred with eleven.

Yes I have indeed noticed that as well, their pre-orders (at least in their Facebook group) are low for most listings. No real idea how well their website pre-orders are at.

There was little demand for this, wasn’t deemed cost effective for VTS.

I still don't completely buy that explanation.

If that really is the case then I expect half of everything currently up for pre-order to be cancelled, because there's a lot of things that ought to have less interest in them.

There's some really random stuff out there, some that doesn't even have a current successful series to back it up, and some that are entirely generic.

I mean, who asked for Mads Mikkelsen from the depressing 2014 western, The Salvation? (IMDB rating: 6.7).

A cowboy who doesn't even have a hat. I collect western figures but I didn't even want that.

I would be nice if companies did stop making things due to lack of interest. Because then I wouldn't be compelled to buy so much. :lol

Well it’s a case-by-case basis type thing. Perhaps whoever is making that cowboy figure only really planned on making 3 total units, and perhaps VTS was planning to do x amount but didn’t come close to the turnout they were expecting. This is based on speculation of course since we don’t know their inner workings, so who really knows. I find third-party makers are more random in their decision-making. Hard to gauge.

I’ve also noticed we collectively tend to over-inflate how popular or desired something is when we are personally into it. And as much as this is from a critically acclaimed show and there is a dedicated following that have been asking for it, it still wasn’t a hot seller across the board….

Idk, I personally try not to overthink it and try to keep it simple with the probable explanation.

It’s a bummer it was cancelled, no question about that.

Over 30 people went to VTS facebook page and asked them to reconsider, that doesn't seem like a lot but in this community it is when most people wouldn't do that.

Art Figures are a general release third party and are, or were, associated with the DAF Toys group (they're still using that style of base, which I now associate with Mars Toys). It was surprising to see that announcement. I had to search Mads' filmography to work out what film it was from.

VTS has been pretty quiet with product under the VTS name. Mizu was going to be VM-054. The previous number was VM-054 Darkstar Maverick, which was announced way back in July 2023.

I didn't even know they had a Facebook page.

It's pretty dead. There's only been two posts since 2019 so they probably don't get many visitors now. Looks like people started to discover it after Mizu's cancellation.
