:lecture :goodpost: :exactly: :hi5:

Ditto.

His name is also one of the oldest EU updates. Goes back top the old West End games RPG. Galaxy guide 1 A new hope. circa 1989

:pfft: .... that just makes the name that much more lame. More time in the EU is like more time swimming in poo.

Re: SSC Hammerhead 12 inch revealed tomorrow, July 2nd!

Been sayin it for years..this is the only 12'' figure from SW i will ever order.Bring it.

Re: SSC Hammerhead 12 inch revealed tomorrow, July 2nd!

Now we need Walrus Man and Snaggletooth to finish off the vintage cantina collection. :yess:

Re: SSC Hammerhead 12 inch revealed tomorrow, July 2nd!

by definition, is'nt any character name not spoken in the film EU?

No Because a lot of character names were created by Lucas and the filmmakers but were never actually uttered in the movies (Bib Fortuna, Ewoks, Wampa, Lobot, IG-88, and many more). Even Boba Fett wasn't mentioned by name until ROTJ.

EU is all of the stuff that is not film canon and was created by licensees and/or EU authors completely aside from the creation of the movies themselves. Pretty simple. In other words, they are contrived and after-the-fact.

I wouldn't be surprised if Lucas has never even heard of the name "Momaw Nadon". Hell, he only named the planet "Coruscant" in the films because the folks at LFL Licensing twisted his arm to do so.

Re: SSC Hammerhead 12 inch revealed tomorrow, July 2nd!

I'll also point out what you said earlier... the name "Momaw Nadon" was created by West End Games for the Role-Playing Games 1989. Created by a licensee for the sake of selling tie-in products... 12 years after the movie came out. He's HAMMERHEAD, damn it. :pfft:

:peace

Re: SSC Hammerhead 12 inch revealed tomorrow, July 2nd!

If you don't like Hammerhead then ____ you. :lol

I'll be here tomorrow ordering this one definitely! :rock Give me the Sandpeople and Walrus Man next!

Re: SSC Hammerhead 12 inch revealed tomorrow, July 2nd!

Yeah but isn't Momaw Nadon at the Star Wars databank? Isn't it in the encyclopedia? Doesn't all this stuff stand until Georgie boy vchanges it? Like all the wac jobs who stick up for Karen Travers Mando stuff over the fact George has changed it?

If it's Hammerhead then why does most everything call him Momaw Nadon since 89?

I name its just a name but if you all don't think it's cool then it doesn't count.

And come on, Gerorgie boy didn't name everybody.

Re: SSC Hammerhead 12 inch revealed tomorrow, July 2nd!

And I really don't think anybody twisted georges arm to use corscant. He gets to do what he wants. Thats why the prequels arent as good as the OT.

Yeah, because those things include EU stuff along with movie canon stuff. It's the main reason why I ignore the starwars.com Databank and why the new SW Encyclopedia is one of the only SW reference books I have no interest in owning.

Because that was all Licensing (i.e. $$$$) and it's easier for those yahoo's to come up with silly, contrived names for individual characters than to stick with something simple like Hammerhead, Snaggletooth, Walrusman, Squid Head etc.

It's symptomatic of the #1 problem with 99% of the EU: it tries way too hard, and the result is glorified, licensed fan-fic. The greatness of SW was almost always in the sublime... something the EU does not get at all. And neither does Lucas... anymore. That's also a big reason why the PT feels so disconnected to the original films.

Oh, they most definitely did. It was called "Had Abbadon" in the early prequel outlines (and that name goes back to the idea of the Imperial Homeworld in Lucas' notes for the OT).
