I've seen in the custom threads that those knock off eBay Luke heads have some issues. Interestingly, their eyes look oddly molded (and have huge pupils) - wonder if it's the same issue SSC has had with Han and Luke.

Thanks, hadn't seen that. I would pose it with the goggles down so the eyes wouldn't be too big an issue for me, and the overall likeness is better.

No, the HT Luke Bespin likeness is. SS's likeness is in another league entirely compared to the HT. HT's efforts may as well be someone else, it doesn't hold a candle to Trevor Grove's Luke.

I can see why someone might find the HT non-BD head a bit too heroic in some ways, but otherwise we'll have to agree to disagree. I don't think Trevor has captured Luke yet, IMHO, however much I might wish he had, and I'm a huge fan of Trevor's work.

You know that both the BD and non-BD are based on the same work, right? There's just no substantial difference in likeness between them, even if the BD looks more realistic due to expression. If an open mouth and some blood defines the likeness for you, then I don't know what to say. I like the DX07 and both included Bespin figures make excellent Skywalkers, but to make any kind of argument that they look more like Hamill than Grove's Hoth Luke... Well, I think that's just being disingenuous and trying to stir the pot, especially in the Hoth Luke thread. Sorry, I don't buy your position for a second.

I got both figures. I'm a little disappointed with the sculpt and a few other minor details. But I'll reserve my full judgment when I receive them. I will be doing a lot of moding, but not as much as my SS Fett. These were both my favorite figure growing up, I couldn't help my self. I spent hours in my room replaying the Hoth scene. Oh, good times.

Nice pic Para, it shows the likenesses are actually good (Team America eyes aside).

The features on both figures - from below the eyes down, are all Hamill & Ford.

The DX07 don't measure up as good like that.

This is all "so near and yet so far" isn't it? At least these figures have an inherent way to disguise the top half of their faces. Regarding the SS versus HT conversation.
It's the same ol, same ol. HT produced a pretty sophisticated sculpt which has a passing stylised resemblance to Luke. SS produced a low grade head sculpt that has a great likeness nose down (although I think Luke's mouth is odd myself) So it just depends on what you are happy with. High end-mediocre likeness, low end-good likeness. Neither is ideal.

But I will certainly be trying the HT sculpts on these. They tend to have a much better likeness without the hair.

Mine are at home, looking forward to surveying the devastation.

Woah, woah, woah, nice shooting Tex! You can only make an 'argument' about these figures up to a point, after that it's subjective, and to me the HT Luke looks more like Hamill than Trevor's, whose work, as I said, I generally admire. No, I didn't know that the BD and non BD are the same sculpt.

And what do you mean, 'especially in the Hoth Luke thread'? Are the lunatics here so dangerous that free expression isn't allowed in this thread? Hmmm, wonder what real world situation that reminds me of.

Exactly what I and others before have said. It's one thing not to like something. But to post in a thread dedicated to that subject on a repeated basis, and further to level ludicrous comparisons, just doesn't seem genuine. To most people, certainly to someone coming in here for the first time, it would seem like someone just trying to stir things up.

Yeah if the rest of the faces look this good, I can't help but think the originally sculpted eyes would have made these look even better. Especially when you wouldn't have the distraction of the creepy dolls eyes and vacant stares anymore.

I'm not honestly. I just found it odd (again) that you'd laud the Bespin Luke head over this one. If it were in the Bespin thread, I suppose that I wouldn't even have noticed, but the repeated point in here just seemed like you were trying to goad someone. If that's not the case and you truly prefer that other sculpt in likeness, let's leave it at that.

I have the HT Bespin Luke sitting no more than 3 feet from my every time I'm at this desk, so I'm looking forward to getting the Hoth figures in hand to see if their quality exceed the photos that have already been posted.

Lol, Luke is even taller than Han? Neither body works for Luke, there should be a significant height difference between Luke and Han considering Ford is 6 inches taller than Hamill. I gather Sideshow doesn't have a similar sized body at this point? Should be something similar to Bruce Lee size, however I don't have the HT figure, so I'm not certain how tall it actually is.

I wondered why there was no plastic "booties" or "gloves" or any other extra packing on those as they were opened...I call shenanigans!

Well again, my apologies for repeating myself (something to which I definitely plead guilty, though there's no malice behind it, I'm just a repetitive bore) and it's nice to be able to disagree in a civil manner.

That's extremely disappointing! I mean, it's one thing if they were the same height, but to make Luke the tall one? Crazy!

I'm only getting Han, but he might need a new body regardless of not having Luke next to him to compare against. Han looks a little stubby. I ended up swapping my Sideshow Indys from the short Pros to the tall ones as well because the proportions just never looked right. Putting them on the tall Pros helped tremendously.
