Re: 1-6th X-wing project

It's good to see that Tim Riggins pursued a career with the Rebel Alliance after he finished playing high school football.

haha. hopefully he's not treating that XWing like he treats his pickup...probably some empty beer cans in the back?

Re: 1-6th X-wing project

Cheers Chris so good to have you back, hope all is good :)

As for hinges nah. The hinges would have to be on the outside or there would be a gap. Its a fixed up or down position.

I would love to play with some fibre optics!! but for now I am going to use what I have got.

bit more spraying done.

Re: 1-6th X-wing project

Wow... just coming together so nicely. The shear amount of paint applications, hand made bits and doo-hickeys is staggering.

Re: 1-6th X-wing project

I know!! I dont think I have every painting something this many times!! But I excited to start saning it down and weathering it up. Ow Ow and adding the decals, gonna paint them by hand. I have tried contacting evil face as he does amazing decals but he does not reply :(

No worries I need the practice.

Re: 1-6th X-wing project

last couple. Taking it easy tonight and just playing with ideas for the lights. The acetate is great but I quickly redrew the display in illustrator to sharpen up the lines and darken up the blacks.

Pics in a mo

Re: 1-6th X-wing project

Nice updates. This is such a cool project.

I was looking at the scene where Luke enters Dagobah's atmosphere and splashes down. There's several flexible corrugated hoses running along the back of the cockpit, filling up some dead space to the left and right of the seat. There's also what seems to be two hydraulic shafts that presumably lift the canopy.

Re: 1-6th X-wing project

So I printed the screen on acetate and the light did not look right just plonked behind it. So I am experimenting with greaseproof paper and white paper to diffuse the light a bit.

I would love to have a flashing light or to but I just cant afford to put any more cash into this project at the mo which is gutting, but hey its no worries. I think I just need some sort of diode that works with a 9v battery, but I have no idea, my understanding or electrics is pants.. I am much better at colouring in :)

Re: 1-6th X-wing project

Yeah I looked at that yesturday but I was a little put off by the price, well I could not find anything cheap!! Still think a nano would be cool :)

Re: 1-6th X-wing project

Nano gives you a backlit animted screen and a sound system for xwing sounds and music soundtrack. Well worth it for a project you've put two years into.

Re: 1-6th X-wing project

HAHA... mate I am glad you are not living next door or my Mrs would be round and boy would you be in trouble!!!:rotfl:yess:
