Re: 1-6th X-wing project

Holy crow!!! This thing is awesome. Being a new guy around here, I feel like I just remembered it was show and tell day at school, and picked up a leaf I found on the playground on the way in. This will impress them.

I love leaves.... It matters not if you show something big or something small its all about showing and sharing. If it was not for these boards I probably would never have been inspired or motivated to do any of this stuff....

So be proud of your leaf.....

Re: 1-6th X-wing project

Now with the landing gear sorted and undercoated its back to the seating arrangement.

I wee splash of primer and chuff me boots its looking much better. There is something about when you undercoat something... it gives it life, pulls it together and it gives me de orn!

humm yes to much info I think... so out with the super sculpty its cushion time and int the oven with it gas mark 1 for 20 mins until golden brown and aromatic.. serve with a dollop fresh cream and a schooner of sherry!

Re: 1-6th X-wing project

How is it that only 30 minutes after posting an image of the landing gear you can have a primered shot of the chair and then another with the cushions?

Be honest Dorg... are you a Timelord? I kind of think all British guys might be :lol

Re: 1-6th X-wing project

oow no barbieboy I am but a simple droid :) I did a fair bit today and I am just working on little bits and sorting though the photos :) as the power has been out today, so no net, music, tea!! dremel, airbrush.. its been great!!

So the cushions stuck to the seat... arse... managed to scrap em off and they are in the oven. I also managed to make the final part to the seat today just before Debs came home to mess :horror now in our house mess equals stress.... not good and I was deep in bantha pooh dooh!

so whats missing from the seat????

You can actually cure sculpey (when its thin like that) with a hair dryer... it takes a bit longer, but that prevents you from melting the chair in the oven, or damaging the cushions when you remove them.

Re: 1-6th X-wing project

Ahhh that is very useful tip, very useful, humm hair is something I am no longer blessed with now... I wonder if debs would mind.... ah I mentioned it and there was no answer... just a look... you know that look!

Re: 1-6th X-wing project

Luckily I know where my wife's hair dryer is... and if she ever needs it and it's missing she knows where it is :lol

Although I generally use it for popping off heads, but its got a lot more uses than just hair :lecture

Looks great! He looks ready to punch out. Where did the miniature plastic snaps come from? Those are handy.

Re: 1-6th X-wing project

Some belt it think, I just cut down the centre of the buckle and slotted the plasticard in.

Re: 1-6th X-wing project

It's good to see that Tim Riggins pursued a career with the Rebel Alliance after he finished playing high school football.

Re: 1-6th X-wing project

Did you install an actual hinge on those two raised black surfaces you added? It's a very nice clean fit.

Have you worked with fiber optics before? It's a great way to add tiny lights and you can use your existing bulbs as the light source. xwing and snowspeeder panels have lights of all different sizes. Some pinpoint lights could be added by punching some small holes with a needle and fishing the fiber optic thread through the new holes. A heat source (such as a pocket lighter) can be used to add a lens to the end of each thread.

Re: 1-6th X-wing project

Wow, great stuff Mark. I am away for a few days and the progress you have made is fantastic.
