What specific actions did Sideshow make that you feel is causing the lack of interest in the LOTR line?

Its more like specific INACTION. Announcing more than 2.5 figures a year would definately help solidify the line. I'm not seeking 10 figures a year like SW does, but having 1 per quarter would speed things along and generate more enthusiasm.

Actually. I think doing 2 figures at once, twice a year could help sales. Like how they did Sam and Frodo. It was nice knowing you wouldn't have to wait 6 months between them.

I'm sure Merry and Pippin will be the same. Perhaps SSC should think about pairing Gimli with a moria orc and maybe Saruman with Wormtongue or Lurtz and Elrond with Arwen and Theoden with a Rohirim and so on.

I know that when SSC did the Jabba series at SDCC a few years back I was really excited to buy the whole lot. Bib Fortuna sold on his own? Maybe not.

I say let this line die and keep the PF one...This is where they kick ass anyway.

Exact-O-mundo. :lecture

(though I also agree with Dave that SSC has done everything in its power to create the highest possible quality figures for this line)

Why are people claiming this line a failure from SSC's perspective? Looking at the LOTR page on their site only Sam and Frodo are listed as available.

Well, they did take quite a long time to sell out from Sideshow, and a lot of retailers had to put them on clearance. That's generally not a good sign. But I'm certainly not giving up hope on this line. I still think they'll probably at least finish the fellowship.

All indications so far appear that Gandalf is selling well...so hopefully it indicates good things to come.

wait until his beard comes out the wrong color and everybody cries and cancels.:lol

i think everybody is getting too worked up about this. the line will continue for quite a while. The Craw gaurentees it. that's all you should need.:lol

If they atleast give me the fellowship then thats ok but if they cannot even complete that then i will be pissed

I'm thinking I should pick up a ToyBiz Gimli just in case.... I'm fairly certain the other two hobbits will come out given they have the body. Gimli I'm not so sure about given that it MIGHT require a different body.

That said - if the Hobbit licence is on the table then a dwarven body would certainly get a workout from that line.

They sell out, but it's not too much of a secret that they determine edition sizes based on initial sales. If the initial sales are slow they set the ES low. 1000 pieces for the hobbits is very low, especially when you have to hold everything to the Star Wars standard now.

Look at the Darkman PF - 350 total pieces - exclusive included. Do you think they're making any money on producing that piece? Nope. But they solicited it so they carry through with releasing it. Same with LotR.

SHUT UP!!!! THE LOTR LINE WILL GO ON!!! i wont hear this anymore.
