Re: 1000toys - TOA Heavy Industries Synthetic Human
Quick Review...
Pics first; hard to photograph, very little sunlight left...
This is my first 1000Toys Synthetic human or non-human figure -- so I'm new to the territory. But I have been fascinated for a long time by the pictures I saw, so when this came up it looked too cool to pass on.
PROS:
-Sturdy build. Very poseable. Love the detail work.
-The subtle blue paint wash. Love the one big red eye.
-All 3 knives flip up nicely and hold position anywhere.
-face mask disassembles fairly easily into two parts.
-The crazy face inside is just... well, crazy. But cool. I think the mouth opens but I forgot to try.
CONS:
-In my case, the back half of the skull cap would not hold and kept falling back on its hinge (I needed to heat, bend and reattach).
-The forearm double-blades seem a bit cheap, don't seem to catch 'hold' in any lock position, and I don't like the open nature of the design.
-I thought the three-fingered hand would have articulation in the fingers. The wrist ball joint is difficult to operate without the whole hand popping out.
-No extra hands (since neither hand is articulated)
-Don't like the space between shoulder and chest where the arms attach -- should sit flush.
OVERALL:
For the price, I like it. It will definitely be a blast to pose. And I think its an ingenious yet simple design. Cool assassin. I believe this is one figure that must be played with and posed to really enjoy it. I expect most of my "cons" will fade with a little time and a lot of play.
