Was not going to get this one because of the wonky body but after seeing some mods to the shoulder I took the plunge (price was right and local seller too).
He's huge but quite light.
I dunno what 108toys was thinking with these weird articulations as basically the pegs were all too long.
So I cut shorter the shoulder pegs, elbow pegs, hands pegs and knees pegs.
Added some padding inside the shoulders/elbows so they sit higher and tighter. Also inside the legs armors to not have them moving all over the place.
Glue trick also on articulations.
And those damn gauntlets were annoying, not staying in place even after making them tighter I ended up adding elastic straps, not really visible and now the gauntlets stay in place.

Next step would be some repaint or a wash maybe would suffice but I suck at it sadly 😔

Would take any advices in terms of colors and techniques 😁

Thanks.
Inside the shoulder.
Lower part, it makes the shoulder higher bit just cutting the pegs already makes a world of difference.
again it looks great with the mod ,do you have a step by step or advise on how to get him apart and how much and where to cut the pegs so they still hold firm as id definitely give it a shot given some instruction and encouragement lol

Easy to take apart, it's pegs inside rubber joints.
So just pull out, maybe hairdryer to soften but I did not needed it.
Cannot give you measurements, I cut a bit then cut more, don't cut too much right away.
Use a Dremel and sanding to finelize.

okay thanks for the tip s ill give it a try

on the padding do you pad inside the bottom part of the ball joint to force the arm to sit higher or am i misreading your method

I'm on the fence. Would a wash over the armor make the color right, or does it need a repaint? May be interested in commission for the armor and eyes. Ive also heard the body skin color doesn't match the face. I just want a good Darkseid.

Using a wash is an interesting idea. I might test that out this weekend. The body and face are the same grey (imo), but the face has more detail work and dry brushing, so they aren't a perfect match, but to me not a distracting mismatch.

Ok let me know how it goes. I actually took a look a screens from zsjl again and the armor actually looks pretty close depending on the shot. I'm gonna go ahead and get him. I want that shelf presence.

I don’t regret getting Darkseid to overlook my Knightmare team even though he’s quite pricey for how crudely made he is.

A little bit of colour in the armour would have been nice but the all grey look at least feels consistent with Snyder’s grading style. Colours are for the good guys. Darkseid sucks the life out of entire planets so it’s fitting for a guy obsessed with anti-life to be devoid of any sort of vibrance.

Looking forward to whenever that ZSJL Steppenwolf releases to join the crew. Shouldn’t be long now.
