It's not bad. The bike looks pretty cool (or hot). But it sort of looks like he's wearing a bad wig instead of flames on his head.

Looking at other companies work makes me appreciate sideshows artists.
Actually, most of Sideshow's artists used to work for other companies at one point in time. :monkey1

I just saw this in the store today and I have to say that the motorcycle looks a little cheap. The sculpt is soft, the engine block area looks like melted plastic, the chain front forks are a solid mass, and I remembered seeing ugly mold lines.
It may look satisfactory with a better paint job but as it was in the box, it would look out of place with the Medicom Ghost Rider.
The flames didn't look too bad but I don't see how else they could be done.

Strangely enough, the packed in Ghost Rider figure looked more interesting.

So far, everything from Hasblo has looked like sh*t. This would've looked so much better if Toy Biz produced it.

For the price though, it is great. If Sideshow/Medicom had made the bike it would probably be $100 or more than the figure. Here the bike would be $25 and the figure $15 (or 20:20). Not bad at all. I might have to hunt this down. Skeletons are so cool. Just wish Sideshow would make a 1:6 scale skeleton.

That's true, it's not bad for it's price. The bike works with the Icons line of figures. And the Ghost rider figure that comes with him looked pretty good. There were two of these on the shelf, one had it's mouth open and didn't look right without the mouth blacked out, the other had it's mouth closed and it improved it's appearance. He also comes with a large out of scale plastic chain with spike at the end. Why McFarlane can use real chains and not Hasblo is beyond me.
I guess I've just become accustom to the quality on Newray bikes.

The regular figures were also on many a peg. They all kinda look cheap. Caretaker looked cool but not with that huge stupid gun he was toting. And the Best regular Ghost Rider was the one that comes with the gun. I didn't pick any up, I'd rather spend it on Sideshow and Toy Biz products.

Saw this today at Wallmart and I hate to admit that it looked pretty good.

If I decide to get the Medi GR I'll probably get this.

Actual, it would have looked exactly the same. The crew designing this is the same ones that were designing the ToyBiz figures. There were 2 ToyBiz entities: one was the design staff and the other was the distribution network. Hasbro bought out the design staff and kept the majority of them on staff. Don't believe me? Look at the Spiderman Origins. They are the same molds as the old ToyBiz stuff, just new paint jobs. I am sure the guys in charge are new, but its been widely reported the designers are pretty much the same.

I picked this up and I think the whole set up is great. It does have some mold lines, but they aren't that intrusive. The flames in the earlier pics are more representative of the photography. They look rather nice in normal lighting. My only minor complaint is that the handle bars/front wheel are slightly loose on mine. Of course, maybe that's how its designed to give it the low rider personal. Overall, while I would give it a perfect score at 29.99, I think its still a solid B+ at 38.99.

P.S. You do realize that outside of real metal, there is no way to make the front chains look like actual chains (i.e. holes and spacing) in a toy, right? Even the most rigid plastics would sag and eventually break due to the small size of the loops.

Yes, I know the design staff is the same, but they don't make decisions on production, the new guys in charge do.
And it's the new production that screwed up the Marvel Legends line.
When I looked at this in it's package, the mold lines made it look like cheap thin vinyl cast, it may be completely different out of the box but I was going on what it seemed like in the package.

Good point, they should've made them out of metal, in fact they should've made most of the bike diecast metal. Hasbro can do it for Star Wars/Battlestar Galactica, I wish they did it for Ghost Rider. It would make the bike alone cost $40 and the figure $20, but the quality would be worth it.

The reason the molds are the same is cause Marvel owns the molds for the figures. It was part of their deal with Toy Biz Worldwide (the distributor). It has nothing to do with the people who were employed at Toybiz US (the design staff.) Marvel didn't renew their contract with TB Worldwide and Hasbro hired the staff from TB US to handle their Marvel lines.

Hasbro has the rights to reuse every Toy Biz Marvel mold created if it wants to.

Toy Biz still has life in them, They're coming out with a Pitt and Judge Dredd figures that look like Old Marvel Legends figs. I also heard they're doing Witchblade, and The Darkness through a contract with Top Cow along with Savage Dragon, and Invincible figures through their respective owners.
There's pics of Dredd up at:

Here's Pitt:

It looks like some of the old Toy Biz staff are still doing work for the company

Saw the 12" GR at Wally World today at lunch...must...have...now....

So...who wants to give me the forty bucks to buy it....

no seriously.

Ghost Rider looks good, I think I like him more than the Medicom version. It'll look good with my Icons collection.

Edit: Oh...wait on second thought, the Medi version does look bad ass. Still the Hasbro G.R. looks cool too!
