As for Padme: I think Trevolver made an impeccable sculpt, absolutely. He is definately one of the best sculpters at Sideshow that I am aware of. I am just not sure I want the toe of my wallet to dip into EU waters. :monkey1 I'll have t wait to see the whole product.

True. Jumping into EU territory could be cost prohibitive. I'm already having to pick and chose from the SW 12" line. It would be hard to pass up on a great Snow Bunny Padme though.

It was by all means a fun experience but I feel I fell short on the likeness in the end.
Your Portman sculpt and Olaf's Ray Park are the two most dead on likenesses in the entire line. Well done! I hope either you or Andy get to tackle Padme for the 1/4 PF.

Hey folks...I wasn't going to comment, but after Andy spilled the beans, I wanted to stop by and take the blame for the sculpt :) I DID have the pleasure to work on this piece for the Sideshow guys. It was by all means a fun experience but I feel I fell short on the likeness in the end. Maybe I'll get an excuse to do another Portman down the line. (the attakus piece looks nice!)

I'm very happy to hear your initial feelings on the sculpt, and I hope you're all happy in the end. The criticisms are well placed, and not overly anal by any means. there's always room for improvement! we just run short on time. :\

thanks guys!
Trev

Trev, no one here loves Natalie more than I. And let me tell you that from what little of your sculpt we've seen, it looks amazing. The only thing that can screw this up is the paint apps. Don't be too hard on yourself because she looks great but it's nice to see that you take pride in your work and want it to be perfect. Can't wait to see more production photo's of my little snow bunny.:bunnydanc :bunnydanc :bunnydanc

It's really not fair to the quality of the CLONE WARS series to lump it in with the rest of the EU, which I will be the first to say is mostly crap.

There are a few pieces of EU (CW, KOTOR, the Luceno novels) that rise above the rest and deserve to be considered on a higher plane of quality than standard EU fair.

I agree with you Irish. To be honest - apart from the lead characters in all six films, I have a lot of must haves from the EU - all 4 Republic Commandos, ARC Troopers & Arc Trooper Captain, Dirge, Kyle Katarn, KOTOR I & II heroes and Villains etc, Admiral Thrawn, Dark Empire Luke, . If the line goes on long enough - there's even a few I've spied in the comics that would make great figures particularly the new Legacy series (anyone for a Darth Talon ? I reckon she's look great beside an Aayla Secura).

I think to have any legs the Sith line in particular will have to delve into the EU. After all - in the movies the only remaining Sith are Emperor Palpatine, Chancellor Palpatine (pre-face meltdown), Armoured Darth Vader and Count Dooku. The EU has a rich band of Sith to draw on (Revan, Malak etc) - including Dark Jedi such as Asaaj Ventress

I won't buy many EU figures if SS offers them, but I'm open to buying some.

It'll depend on the subjects chosen and the quality of the product.

I think I'd like to see SS tackle the new Imperial Knights from Dark Horse's Legacy series. https://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Imperial_Knights I like the visual, mixing stormtroopers, imperial guards and Jedi/Sith.

I'm on the fence right now about Snow Bunny Padme. I feel a bit obligated to buy it, since I voted for it in the poll. It'll depend on how I feel the day it goes on sale and if I think SS will get around to an Ep. 2 version anytime soon.

While I would much rather have Padme in one of her amazing gowns I will not be able to resist the snowbunny Padme after looking at her sculpt. It is just stunning.

...But who complains more, a member who make a comment or opinion about a product , or the mad mob of members who whine and ***** about that person's comment and jump all over him? Really, think about it...

Are you kidding!?!? It looks awesome! :bow :rock

Trev , well done mate! I wouldn't take any of the criticisms to heart.

I bet half of these guys couldn't sculpt anywhere half as good as this! I'm looking forward to getting this one! Do you have anymore you would like to share with us? :)

It's not when someone complains about a product it's like with Justin and a few others that with every figure want to point out what's wrong with them. After a while it becomes a little tiresome even when someone isn't being anal about things.

Seems to me the people that are jumping all over JustinLuck are the ones making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Well, maybe if you read more of his posts you would see why some of us are getting a tad tired of the types of posts Justin puts out. He rarely says anything positive and I'm sorry that gets much older faster than someone like me who just wants to sit back and talk about what they like about each figure. The pics hadn't even been up 30 mins and he was already trying to point out a flaw. Of course this is after he has said it was perfect or whatever.

Why is it that it's ok for complainers to complain but when others get tired of it and say their peace we're the ones in the wrong? That is really bordering on double standards. We are just voicing our opinion on the product of posts people like Justin are putting out. There are folks out there that seem to not have issues with ripping me and my positive view point.

Hell, I can't sculpt to save my life. Trevor, the work I've seen of yours so far is outstanding. I am looking forward to seeing the finished Padme as well as more of your Jaws Hooper. Can we hope/expect to see more from you soon? Either from SS or personally?

Yup, it's gets old when a new item is posted and certain people just mention the flaws and nothing else.

Yet, if someone says something bad about a custom, oh then there is hell to pay.

There is no item that is perfect.

I wish I had some mroe personal pieces to share! unfortunately all I have is older work. I need to get my Angelina Jolie sky captain piece cast up. (I had a big annoying ordeal with the caster I hired for that, so it still isn't in resin)

I imagine you'll get to see more from me soon enough. I'm happy you're enjoying what you've seen so far. that really makes it all the more gratifying for me.

What's that for?

It's not meant to be personal I want to make that clear.

Then you get posts like yours showing the clapping supporting the member who wants to try and complain about every detail. Justin does that with every single figure. When every post virtually is a complaint it gets old and some of us are like ok we know already. Then like I said a post clapping in support of someone who only complains rubs the wrong way. It's ok to talk about things you'd like to see changed but also talk about what you like. However, if all you're gonna do is complain you should expect folks to say ok enough and those folks should be supported. Not told to shut up basically.

Exactly!!

Like I said Fritz it's not you. I have no problems with you but I hate that if a group gets tired of someone who just complains we end up being the bad guy. I'm sorry someone who only complains is much more annoying than someone who just wants to enjoy them.

I don't know Justin's history since I don't see all the posts in all the threads but his opinion in this thread didn't seem overly critical. My clapping isn't in support of Justin but in support of being tolerant of others opinions. Which I appreciate very much in these forums and I commend Dave for giving us the opportunity to voice oppinions without overly sensoring posts.

I can't wait. If it's half as good as Padme, it'll be great. :rock Now where are those Angelina pics? :tap

Gotta agree with Josh & Evil here,

A year ago, people here, were accusing Josh of being to much a Sideshow fanboy in everyone of his posts. But he always had some arguments to support why the figure was good.

These days, its the opposite,Some posters here always gotta find the negative in every new figures. Its like we can predict the post of the guy without even reading it.Man, is your life that bad ??? I wouldnt want to be you.

For some people who dont frequent the board on a regular basis this might be unimportant or even unoticeable, but for regular posters here, and I mean the people that come here everyday, its getting frustrating to read those posts.

Dont get me wrong, I've sh@t on some of Sideshow 's product in the past( For ex. Modern KURGAN sculpt is total crap),but to find something wrong in every ****** sculpt there is, is kinda moronic.

Those guys sometimes sounds like they could do better than those artists or that they have a Master degree in sculpting human likeness.

haha. just learned Trevor sculpted this.

mere days after digging up and posting his awesome Hooper sculpt, its revealed he's actually already doing work for SS.

..... freaky :monkey1

awesome sculpt Trevor.
you sure have a bright future

I get it and understand how that can get annoying. That used to bug me a little but not anymore. I kind of enjoy the back and forth that goes on around here. It's like road rage which I have controlled in my old age (now back to playing Super Burnout 2 on my XBox). :lol

So Trev, how about those Sky Captain Angelina pics? :D
