The sculpt is perfect.

And Justin has been added to my ignore list.
To be honest I'm tempted to do that myself. Even though I consider it bad form to announce when someone is on your ignore list, there really is a line between giving criticism for something that *needs* it and just an outright threadcrap.

I think the level of scrutiny and fault finding toward this near flawless sculpt of such an unforgiving likeness no less (no hiding flaws under a beard, mask or alien make-up) crossed over into the latter category.

I think Justin's a good guy and like most of his posts but if pics with little "flaws" circled pop up in every thread about Padme then Ignoring I will go. ;)

My gosh... people didn't complain this much for any other fig!!!!! :monkey3

Well, I remember some discussion on Luke's arm length, Brent's face, Cordy's face, Anakin's paint apps.......

Very impressive. I'm still bitter that Padme won the contest because I always knew we'd get at least two other versions of her, but it's looking good none the less.

According to posts on the Clubhouse, Trev is all of 19 years old.

You know, there's something just wrong when you can't buy a guy who sculpts like this a drink.

Trev, I hope your parents are suitably impressed.

The Attakus one doesn't look too bad either! Could very well their best human sculpt yet, or at least the first to actually look like the actor.

I'm not trying to start a war here ... unless it's Star Wars.

But who complains more, a member who make a comment or opinion about a product , or the mad mob of members who whine and ***** about that person's comment and jump all over him? Really, think about it.

Seems to me the people that are jumping all over JustinLuck are the ones making a mountain out of a mole hill.

I love this forum and what Sideshow is putting out but let's not get all vicious because we don't agree with someone's view.

Peace, Joy, and bananas.
:peace :joy :banana

I just watched V For Vendetta again.

I am now even more convinced that this Portman sculpt is pretty much perfection. She even had that "puffy" left upper lip a few times. It's a face she actually makes.

Absolutely a homerun sculpt.

Way to go, Trev!!

:chew

I know I'm not the only one who was just a little dissapointed she didn't get totally naked for her rain scene, like Evey did in the book.

I would definitely get a second one to make an Evey if only they'd make V himself.

And John Hurt. I don't care from what movie. Alien, Hellboy, V, hell gimme JH from Harry Potter or even Spaceballs. Just give the man his plastic due!!

Hey folks...I wasn't going to comment, but after Andy spilled the beans, I wanted to stop by and take the blame for the sculpt :) I DID have the pleasure to work on this piece for the Sideshow guys. It was by all means a fun experience but I feel I fell short on the likeness in the end. Maybe I'll get an excuse to do another Portman down the line. (the attakus piece looks nice!)

I'm very happy to hear your initial feelings on the sculpt, and I hope you're all happy in the end. The criticisms are well placed, and not overly anal by any means. there's always room for improvement! we just run short on time. :\

thanks guys!

Well, now maybe Justin will chill a little. :lol

Man, it looks great. I know you're gonna be harder on yourself because you feel you can always do better but dang man this is really sweet!!

Welcome, o talented one. And by the pics so far, Padme looks amazing. Glad you're part of the Sideshow creative team.

Trev, you're too humble. I honestly cannot see a single problem with this sculpt. Justin_Luck brought up a possible one last night but after watching V For Vendetta again earlier I noticed that even that is accurate to certain looks that Portman puts off.

You are an artist. And a true artist is never truly happy with his or her work and always feels it can be improved.

Remember the old saying, "A work of art is never finished... only abandoned". Well, clearly that is what you are expressing here. So excuse me if I take that into consideration while you bemoan the notion that you "fell short" when creating absolutely the best Natalie Portman likeness ever.

And from a fellow Utahn -- It doesn't get any better :joy
And fellow Salt Laker... :D There are a few of us Utahs on this board apparently.

As for Padme: I think Trevolver made an impeccable sculpt, absolutely. He is definately one of the best sculpters at Sideshow that I am aware of. I am just not sure I want the toe of my wallet to dip into EU waters. :monkey1 I'll have t wait to see the whole product.

It's really not fair to the quality of the CLONE WARS series to lump it in with the rest of the EU, which I will be the first to say is mostly crap.

There are a few pieces of EU (CW, KOTOR, the Luceno novels) that rise above the rest and deserve to be considered on a higher plane of quality than standard EU fair.

Don't dismiss this figure simply because it's technically EU... it's much better than that. In fact, I prefer some elements of CW and KOTOR over some aspects of the prequel movies themselves. And I can't stand 95% of EU stuff.

Oh I totally agree with you Irish. I thought the CW had alot of things going right for them which some of the PT didn't quite have (but don't get me wrong, Im not a PT hater. PT+OT=SW is something I subscribe to as well).

Its just that, with all the versions of Padme we should be getting from Sideshow I am not sure that this is one that the completist urges in me have much sway over... I dunno. We'll see. When it comes to what I think I won't buy from Sideshow, I am like a leaf in the wind...:lol
