Re: 14 shot dead at movie theater

They say the guy was wearing body armor and a gasmask. Sound like anyone we know in the film? Yeah, we'll be hearing about this for a long time with this movie.

Re: 14 shot dead at movie theater

I wanted to express my feelings over this in a way that didn't trite or cliche. sat here for 30 minutes, thinking of something, anything to say that would accurately represent my thoughts on this event and that would fully relay how much the enormity of this event has racked my emotions, in effort to offer adequate condolences to those effected.

But I can't. Nothing profound, nothing clever. I am gripped by anger. This feeling of forcing myself to hold in a torrent of expletives and things I would want to happen to these monsters, it is making me feel sick. But it's but a small iota of what those aurora movie-goers and their friends, loved ones are feeling, I know it.

I'm so, so sorry for everyone involved.

Re: 14 shot dead at movie theater

Nothing is logical about this situation, it wouldn't surprise me if this was an obsessive fan. People get very worked up about these films, combine that with an unhinged mind spells trouble

It was the first showing of the night, he started shooting as the movie started, he walked into the theater from an emergency door exit, he didn't stop and ask anyone "are you enjoying the film that you haven't even seen yet," and then start picking off those that didn't. You are absolutely right that this situation is not logical, but it is logical to know that he didn't shoot people because they didn't like the film.

That makes sense, i just read it here & didn't know it if was sourced or not

Re: 14 shot dead at movie theater

I used to be for gun control, but in the last 5 years, i have come to realize that nammagazine is right - since there are so many guns in the system already (in the US), all gun control will do is prevent responsible people from owning them to defend themselves against idiots like this guy.

Yeah but its not like people can just carry them around everywhere with them. The right to own a gun wouldn't have helped these people at the cinema. Their guns, if they have them, were at home. :dunno Surely it really only comes in handy for incidents of home invasion.

You can get permits to carry them around. Scary isn't it

You think this guy had a permit?

No. You can carry a handgun in most states.

In Maine, I believe you don't even need a permit to wear one on your hip.

Re: 14 shot dead at movie theater

This is a shame, so it was just one guy who did this, I heard the initial report say 2, either way I'm happy to hear at least they picked him up quickly before he could do anything else.

Just a shame, schools, movie theatres, children, you have to be a pretty ignorant big POS to target these sort of places.

Re: 14 shot dead at movie theater

And in this incident, dark theatre room, smoke/gas (from the gunman), and running theatre goers trying to escape, how will anyone with a gun on them really be able to locate the shooter and fire back? The chances of more injury or death is way way higher than disabling the gunman.

They said he came through an emergency exit door in the front of the theater so someone had to let him in.

Here in PA you only need a license to carry concealed. You can open carry. However, it's a little more challenging. When transporting a weapon with no permit you have to have the weapon and the ammunition seperate while doing so. It's a dumb law.

Re: 14 shot dead at movie theater

I think the only restriction in Maine is that you can't carry in a bar. Not sure. I don't own a gun.

It's guaranteed that nothing will happen if no one stops him. The only chance for anyone in a situation like this is to take a shot. Hypothesizing failure is meaningless.
