True but the LFL Stamp of Approval is starting to turn into this in some cases:

I have a feeling the type of input LFL gives on these figures boils down to a detailed study of the portrait, costume and accessories as individual elements and their representation of the source material, I don't imagine they spend to much time judging how the figure is as a figure, such as arm lengths and poseability and such.

That pretty much seems to be the case. They very much like to have their say on likeness, expressions and costume details. And for Vader and other armored troops they're now very much into idealism over prop accuracy, which bugs the crap out of me personally.

I know for a fact that they made Sideshow change the Vader helmet on the PF so that it didn't have the widows' peak (like it does in ANH) and also put the squash on any possibility of it having true accurate two-tone paint.

This is just one example. The final 12" Mace Windu and Bespin Luke heads are another.

I got onboard the SSC boat well after the Vader PF, I had no idea the made inputs on that piece like that. I sure hope that doesn't mean bad things for a 1/6 ANH Vader, maybe the putz at LFL behind that isn't there anymore, it's been a few years.

Oh man, I really am not digging this figure. I think it's a bunch of small little things that add up to a large disappointment. In the end I am glad I canceled since I wasn't feeling this figure from the beginning.

Well, I'm hoping LFL's "standards" for approving 1/6 items are not as stringent as the PF due to the fact that the pricepoint could more easily justify multiple versions of the same character.

The PF Vader was originally designed to be completely ANH-accurate (to go with the Obi-Wan, which was announced next). But LFL dicked that up. If they do that with the eventual 1/6 and force Sideshow to make it some idealized amalgam instead of a screen-accurate version I am going to kick someone in the fruit stand.

So you don't think the forearms (including gloves) aren't too physically long? I understand how the appearance of the gloves could add to it, but they still look about 1 1/2 times what a normal forearm would be.

Which to me is odd, since the proportions on the female body aren't that off when it comes to the forearms.

Yes, the arms are much too long. There's a long peg inside the glove that adds about a 1/2 inch to the forearm. The gloves should actually come almost to her elbows.

There is no wire in the cape hood, but it sits okay.

The eyes to the side is normal and will be on all the figures- it's not a defect.

No one's calling the looking to the side a defect, but one user posted shots of their figure and the eyes are defective, they're looking in different directions. You and Trev lucked out it seems.

This figure was DOOMED the moment it went on the poll. Her costume is just not translatable from the animation to real-life materials. Thats where this figure went wrong: from the very start.

I have to agree with you, Sideshow got stuck with having to produce an odd figure. I think they started great with the sculpt (IMO still the best Portman) but that costume is just odd, looks great in the cartoon... but in a 1/6 figure is just funky.

Still though, I'm actually pretty impressed how much better the final product looks. If the arms were shorted and eyes were less surprised I think it'd actually pretty damn good, for being a odd choice.

Is this something that could be fixed with customization?

My guess is you would have to chop a bit of the forearm down... I imagine the wrist of the glove is too slim to accommodate the wrist peg from the buck, so its placed further down on the glove.

Yeah, she's scaring me. I also can't believe this won. I voted for Quin *shrugs*

Wasn't there a rumor going around that someone stuffed the ballot box or something and voted a ton of times for Padme and that's why she won?

I remembered when this vote happened. It was the height of the Clone Wars cartoon and everyone loved the idea of an action figure of Natalie Portman in a skin tight costume.

Again I say that this figure looks great. Star Wars fans will always find something to b*tch about. How many requests have we had for dynamic eyes, then we finally get them and everyone gets mad.

I think the main problem is she has no eyelashes or lids. If they had given her eyes a little bit of depth, she wouldn't look half as frightening. The overall face sculpt is very good and you can definitely see Natalie's likeness. But those eyes are very distracting LOL.

I can't belive that almost everybody here feels the same about this figure. When was the last time that that happened??? Amazing!

:chew

Mind you, the wookiee is not dancing because Padme is 'bad', but because we are so good.

It's true, Illum Padme shouldn't have been made, at least not like this, but, here she is. Can't say I'm disappointed in Sideshow because of it though. As a completist in this line, multiple versions of the same character hurt me much more. And I wouldn't say that if all different versions of a character would have the same level of quality, but IMO that is not always the case.
Since I'm one of those collectors that likes to leave everything in it's original state, I say it's most important that Sideshow get's their paint jobs and proportions under control. It's true that a lot of those issues should have been addressed a long time ago. And since we may expect to pay $90 for all forthcoming figures, this becomes even more important. I'm very certain that I will not be paying $90 for figures with wobbly eyes, monkey arms or elephantiasis in the hands...

That vote really has little to no barring on the actual line as it turned out because it was supposed to be for the "First EU Figure" in this line but as we all know Asajj beat her to the punch by a lot in release. Ordered Schmored, Asajj finished first. I guarantee every figure in that vote gets done at one point or another.
